Kids connect with cooking

SPRINGFIELD Kid Stuff Inc. and Holistic Simplicity LLC announce the launching of "Cook and Connect." The community has given extraordinary support to these businesses, and now Kid Stuff and Holistic Simplicity would like to reciprocate, especially during these tough economic times, by launching "Cook and Connect."

"Cook and Connect" will be a six month philanthropic commitment within the community to support and enhance the health and wellbeing of children, their families, young adults and elders by offering an exciting learning opportunity and an exceptional supportive community experience. "Cook and Connect" is dedicated to supporting the health and education of the community and will provide an interactive, holistic approach to topics such as childhood and family obesity, stress related to single parenting or grand-parenting, heart health and blood pressure, sugar dependency and diabetes.

Three workshops will take place each month on the following days of the month: the first Thursday of each month from noon to 2 p.m. (for adults and elders); the first Thursday of each month from 6 to 8 p.m. (for teens, adults and elders); and the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon (for families with children ages four through 12).

The workshops are free of charge and are open to the public. Enjoy an informative mini health presentation, an interactive cooking activity (appropriate to the health topic presented), a fun interactive physical activity (to introduce holistic modalities to address chosen health topics, i.e. family yoga, guided imagery, meditation etc.), and refreshments.

Kid Stuff is located in Bicentennial Plaza. For more information call 782-0057.
