The Grammar School at Somersville in Somers, Conn., participated in an International art and literacy project called "Pinwheels for Peace." The students of the Grammar School created pinwheels in all shapes and sizes with messages of peace written on the fans. The "planting" of the pinwheels took place on Sept. 22 at 8:30 a.m. in honor of World Peace Day, observed on Sept. 21. As part of the ceremony, the students recited the Pledge of Allegiance followed by observing a moment of silence as an opportunity to reflect on peace in our world.
