Storrowton Village seeks volunteers

WEST SPRINGFIELD — Eastern States Exposition's Storrowton Village Museum is seeking volunteers interested in discovering the rich heritage of New England and sharing that knowledge during school programs held throughout the year.
Volunteers will guide and help children learn what life was like for youngsters in the 19th century through "Look Back, Little Red Schoolhouse" and "Today's Math in Yesterday's Market" — all held in the village's historic buildings.
Dressed in Early American-inspired apparel, village volunteers will give students a glimpse of New England's past while sharing information on the roles of 19th century children in New England. Volunteers will gain a wealth of knowledge about crafts, food and daily life of the era and will dress in a provided period costume to authenticate the experience.
Prospective volunteers must be available weekdays and training sessions begin Jan. 24.
Each year, a recognition luncheon is held for those volunteers who have donated more than 75 hours of service during the year.
Volunteers often find the friendships they make with people who share a common interest the most memorable part of their commitment to this important village experience.
Those interested may call the village at 205-5051 or email storrow@TheBigE.com for more information.
