|SPRINGFIELD The World's Finest Sports Museum will offer holiday fun for the whole family during the school vacation week, Dec. 26 through Jan. 3. From special appearances and clinics to contests and games, the Hall will be filled with more excitement than ever before!|
The fun kicks off on Dec. 26 with a free film festival in the Hall of Fame Theater including documentaries on the Boston Celtics 17th championship, Michael Jordan and the Harlem Globetrotters, plus prizes for the winners of the day's Free Throw and Three Point Contest winners.
On Dec. 27, the Hall of Fame tips off three straight days of skills clinics for visitors beginning at 11:30 a.m. Sunday's clinic will feature players from Derek Kellogg's 2009-10 University of Massachusetts Men's Basketball team. On Monday, the skills clinic will be led by members of the 2009-10 NBA D-League Springfield Armor and on Tuesday, Coach Montemayor and players from the Holyoke Community College Cougars will run a skills clinic. Players from the UMass Minutemen will return on Jan. 2 for a second clinic.
On Dec. 28, former Boston Globe columnist, author and current ESPN contributor Jackie MacMullen will visit the Hall of Fame beginning at 1 p.m. for a questions and answer forum with visitors as well as autographing copies of her latest book, "When The Game Was Ours," written with Larry Bird and Earvin "Magic" Johnson about the NBA's glory days, highlighted by their personal rivalries during the 1980s.
On Dec. 30, come learn about the state of Connecticut's newest attraction, the Connecticut Science Center, whose representatives will be at the Hall of Fame to engage visitors with their unique Bubble-ology demonstration at 12:30 p.m.
Vacation week concludes on Jan. 3 with another day of historic basketball films and lively contests on the Hall of Fame's Center Court.
The Hall of Fame is open daily during the holiday vacation week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday through Friday and until 5 p.m. on Saturday. Regular adult admission is $16.99 and $11.99 for ages five to 15. Those under five years old are free. Senior citizens can enjoy a discount admission of $13.99. An Annual Pass is $39.99.
