Hoffman will speak about de-cluttering your life and reducing stress by showing us how to use a variety of storage solutions, including items to help store and sort your personal papers.
GOLF LESSONS FOR SENIORS A six-week session of golf lessons for seniors will begin April 16 from 1 - 2 p.m. at the Bob Lake Learning Center, Fenway Golf Range. Rain dates will be May 28 and June 4. ITALIAN NIGHT Sponsored by the St. Michael's Knights of Columbus #9960, May 3, St. Michael's Parish Community Center. Cocktails 6 p.m., dinner 7 p.m. Entertainment will be provided. GREATER SPRINGFIELD PLANT SALE The Florence Congregational Church will host its annual plant sale April 26 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. There will be perennial and biennial plants from local gardens and most plants will sell in the $2 - 4 range. The plant sale will be held in conjunction with a craft sale with local vendors selling their wares. There will also be a raffle, a Chinese auction, a bake sale and a luncheon.
SUBVETS MEETING The Baystate West Chapter of Subvets Inc. will be holding their meeting at the WW2 Club on Conz St. in Northampton starting at 2 p.m. on April 20. Details on the visit to a submarine at the sub base in New London will be explained. Friends and guests are invited to this meeting.

GENEALOGICAL SEMINAR Are you descended from French bluebloods? You can find out at a free public seminar, "French Nobility and Royalty," sponsored by the French-Canadian Genealogical Society at 6:30 p.m., April 17, in the society's library in the Old County Courthouse at 553 Tolland Green in Tolland, Conn. Raymond Cassidy of Kensington will talk about the early settlers of New France (Canada) who came from French royalty and nobility and the French Canadians today who may be related to them. Cassidy will also describe the methods used to trace genealogies in medieval France and the resources available in the society's library and on the Internet.
BOBBY VINTON SHOW St. Mary's Church, 840 Page Blvd., East Springfield, is sponsoring a bus trip to the Aqua Turf Restaurant in Plantsville, Conn., to attend a performance by entertainer Bobby Vinton, also known as the "Polish Prince," on Aug. 14. HAMPDEN BULK DISPOSAL DAY The town of Hampden will be offering a Bulk Disposal Day at the Transfer Station on April 19 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Residents will be allowed bulk items at a cost of approximately $20 cash only, per item. Air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, TVs and computer monitors are approximately $40 cash only, per item. Construction materials will also be taken for a fee. HAMPDEN GARDEN CLUB The Hampden Garden Club will host its first meeting of the season on April 17 at 7 p.m. at Academy Hall on Main Street. LONGMEADOW IDOL AUDITIONS Auditions will take place April 29 and 30 at 3 p.m. in the Williams Middle School Auditorium for middle school age contestants in the 2008 Longmeadow Idol Competition. All individual acts as well as bands are welcome to audition. Contestants should come prepared with a karaoke version CD of any song as well as all musical equipment. Longmeadow Idol is the major fundraising event of the Longmeadow High School Interact Club which is sponsored by Longmeadow Rotary Club. MEATBALL AND ZITI DINNER The Knights of Columbus, St. Mary's Council, will be hosting a meatball and ziti dinner to celebrate income tax filing deadline at the St. Mary's auditorium on April 15 from 4:45 - 7 p.m. Tickets cost $5. PIONEER VALLEY BEGINNER TENNIS LEAGUE Have fun and get fit as ages 19+ play against teams from other PV towns such as Agawam, Springfield, East Longmeadow and Chicopee. Five - 10 players are needed to play singles, first doubles and second doubles matches. Post-season divisional play is optional. League runs on Monday evenings from mid-May - mid-September from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Blinn Tennis courts. Fee includes standard league fees plus one-year membership to USTA. CARDIO TENNIS Get your hearts pumping in a four-week fitness program that is a fun group activity, with non-stop action! BASEBALL CLINIC This clinic for boys and girls ages seven - 12 will help develop a life-long passion for baseball. Professional and college-level coaches will provide instruction in fielding, throwing, hitting, pitching and physical conditioning. FUNDRAISER The family and friends of Peter Kourouvacilis will be hosting a fundraiser in honor of Kourouvacilis, who has been diagnosed with stage four lymphoma cancer. A Springfield city police officer for 15 years and recently an officer in Miami Garden, Fla., he is 43 years and married with three children. Proceeds from this benefit will go directly to his family. The benefit will be family-friendly with bounce houses, a DJ, food, drink and much more. DINNER AND SPRING AUCTION A dinner and spring auction hosted by Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Ave., will take place May 10. The dinner and auction preview begin at 6 p.m., followed by a silent auction at 7 p.m. A live auction offering one of a kind items such as use of vacation homes on Cape Cod and Marco Island, jewelry, antiques and collectibles will begin at 7:30 p.m. Dinner: chicken marsala; cost is $12.50 per person. MEDICINE MAMMALS EVENT Bring the family to Better Life, 1500 Allen St., on April 22 from 1 - 5 p.m. for a Native American program in the tipi with Wildlife Rehabilitator Loril Moondream from the White Mountain Apache Nation. Learn about Medicine Mammals, raising orphaned animal babies to be released back into the wild and how important this wildlife is to our environment. Come sit in the tipi, see orphaned babies and make a cornhusk doll. All events are free and open to the public; donations will go to Medicine Mammals.
BLESS YOUR PET As part of Trinity's observance of the Festival of God's Creation and Earth Day, we will be hosting a service to bless animals out on our front lawn on April 19 at 4 p.m. Members and friends are invited to come and to bring your pets with you make sure they are in a carrier or on a leash. There will be a time in the service when you can bring your pet forward for a blessing. If you would rather bring a picture of your pet, you are invited to do this. We will have a way to gather the pictures on that day. We expect some extra special visitors to be with us for a blessing as well! Don't miss this service. All ages are welcome and encouraged to come.
