AGAWAM MOHEGAN SUN The Lioness bus trip to Mohegan Sun on April 18 still has seats available. For reservations call Lillian Doyle at 786-9586. The bus will leave the Agawam High School parking lot at 5 p.m. Cost is $20 which includes a $10 meal ticket and a $10 free bet. All reservations must be paid at the time of registration. Parking will be at the Agawam High School.
FIFTIES DINNER DANCE The Agawam Gators baseball team will host a Fifties Theme Dinner Dance, May 10, 6:30 p.m. at the Dante Club, 1198 Memorial Ave., West Springfield. Adults only. FOREIGN FILM FESTIVAL The Agawam Cultural Council's foreign film festival continues with the showing of "Bread and Tulips" at Agawam Family Cinemas, 866 Suffield St. on May 4. Tickets: $6 per person, including complimentary hors d'oeuvres before the show. There will also be a free drawing for door prizes. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and the movie begins at 1:15 p.m.
PRINCESS PAJAMA PARTY St. David's Episcopal Church, 699 Springfield St., Feeding Hills, will host a Princess Pajama Party on May 2 from 6:30 - 9 p.m. Girls of all ages are welcome to attend. Come and paint your nails, do your hair, be pampered, make a crown and don't forget to wear your jammies. We will enjoy special snacks and princess-like treats. NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK The Agawam Public Library will be hosting mini-receptions to celebrate National Library Week on April 16 from 6 - 8 p.m. and April 18 from 10 a.m. - noon. Visit with library staff and volunteers and enjoy some cookies and punch or coffee. Free book bags will be available, filled with information on all the library has to offer its patrons of all ages.

POLISH CALVARY UNIT FEATURED The Society of Polish American Culture will feature a Polish Calvary Unit under the direction of Max Knas who will present a "Tribute to Poland's Past" at their monthly meeting on April 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Chicopee Lodge of Elks, 431 Granby Rd. Knas will bring along four to six members of his group in uniform, show some of their equipment and do different activities with the unit. There is no charge for this event and the public is invited. Light refreshments will be served following the presentation.
HOLISTIC HEALTHCARE Debra Rusenko, licensed acupuncturist, will be doing a presentation and demonstration on acupuncture at the Chicopee Senior Center on April 30 at 6 p.m. Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years. Register by calling the center at 534-3698.
MEN'S GROUP There is a new Men's Group at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. The group meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 10 a.m. This group is designed for men who are looking to be part of a large circle of their peers. The group discusses a variety of topics each month and will be open to topics that a member of the group may wish to discuss. EVENING CONCERT The Chicopee Council on Aging is sponsoring an evening concert at the Chicopee Senior Center with a performance by Dave Mindell on April 22 at 6 p.m. Join us for a fun evening as Mindell brings the best of the 50s, 60s and 70s with songs of Elvis, Bobby Darin, Sinatra, the Beatles and more. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $4 in the Council on Aging office; tickets purchased at the door will cost $5. This program is open to the public. Refreshment will be provided. CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS Chicopee High School cheerleading tryouts for junior varsity and varsity will take place in the Chicopee High School gymnasium on April 30, 5 - 7 p.m.; May 1, 5 - 7 p.m.; May 7, 5 - 7 p.m.; and May 8, 5 - 7 p.m. All students attending Chicopee High School in Sept. are invited. GREATER SPRINGFIELD Perennial Plant Sale The Florence Congregational Church will host its annual plant sale April 26 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. There will be perennial and biennial plants from local gardens and most plants will sell in the $2 - 4 range. The plant sale will be held in conjunction with a craft sale with local vendors selling their wares. There will also be a raffle, a Chinese auction, a bake sale and a luncheon.
SUBVETS MEETING The Baystate West Chapter of Subvets Inc. will be holding their meeting at the WW2 Club on Conz St. in Northampton starting at 2 p.m. on April 20. Details on the visit to a submarine at the sub base in New London will be explained. Friends and guests are invited to this meeting.

GENEALOGICAL SEMINAR Are you descended from French bluebloods? You can find out at a free public seminar, "French Nobility and Royalty," sponsored by the French-Canadian Genealogical Society at 6:30 p.m., April 17, in the society's library in the Old County Courthouse at 553 Tolland Green in Tolland, Conn. Raymond Cassidy of Kensington will talk about the early settlers of New France (Canada) who came from French royalty and nobility and the French Canadians today who may be related to them. Cassidy will also describe the methods used to trace genealogies in medieval France and the resources available in the society's library and on the Internet.
HOLYOKE JAPANESE TEA CEREMONY On April 16 the Wistariahurst Museum, 238 Cabot St., will host Chanoyu Japanese tea ceremony with tea masters from Japan. There will be two sessions at 3:30 and 7 p.m. Ticket includes a beautiful handmade tea bowl made especially for this event by well-known local potter and ceramic artist Linda Siska. On April 17, the Wistariahurst Museum will present a talk on Japanese Kimonos by Joanne Ingersoll, curator of textiles at Rhode Island School of Design from 6 - 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 per person. FUNDRAISER The family and friends of Peter Kourouvacilis will be hosting a fundraiser in honor of Kourouvacilis, who has been diagnosed with stage four lymphoma cancer. A Springfield city police officer for 15 years and recently an officer in Miami Garden, Fla., he is 43 years and married with three children. Proceeds from this benefit will go directly to his family. The benefit will be family-friendly with bounce houses, a DJ, food, drink and much more. Dinner and Spring Auction A dinner and spring auction hosted by Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Ave., will take place May 10. The dinner and auction preview begin at 6 p.m., followed by a silent auction at 7 p.m. A live auction offering one of a kind items such as use of vacation homes on Cape Cod and Marco Island, jewelry, antiques and collectibles will begin at 7:30 p.m. Dinner: chicken marsala; cost is $12.50 per person. Dinner reservations are required and can be made in advance by calling the church office at 737-5311. Deadline for reservations is May 7. There is no charge for attending just the auction.

WESTFIELD FREE YOUTH FISHING DERBY The Westfield Sportsman's Club will host its annual Free Youth Fishing Derby on April 27 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the club pond on Furrowtown Road. The derby takes place rain or shine and is free to all area youth 17 and younger. Prizes will be awarded. The pond will be freshly stocked with trout. HUMASON'S OFFICE HOURS Rep. Donald Humason Jr. and his Legislative Aide Sarah Latour will have public office hours at the Westfield Athenaeum on April 25 from 10:30 a.m. - noon. YMCA LATE SPRING CLASSES The YMCA of Greater Westfield will begin taking program registration for its late spring classes on April 21. Classes begin the week of April 28. An annual limited membership of $15 for youth, $30 for adults is required for each class enrollment, unless you are a full member of the YMCA. YMCA'S 120th ANNIVERSARY On April 23 the YMCA of Greater Westfield will celebrate its 120th birthday. HORTICULTURALIST LECUTRE Well-known horticulturalist Pernell Gerver will be speaking at the Westfield Athenaeum on April 23 at 7 p.m. in the Jasper Rand Art Museum. Gerver will be giving a lecture titled "Gardens to Attract Hummingbirds and Butterflies." WRESTLING MATCH The Way Wrestling Was Promotions will debut on April 20 at Elks Lodge, 439 Morgan Rd. at 3 p.m. Promoter Dick Blake has signed some of the best talent in New England for this debut card. The main event will be a two out of three fall event with Antonio "The Promise" Thomas meeting Jason Blade.
