EAST LONGMEADOW
ITALIAN NIGHT
Sponsored by the St. Michael's Knights of Columbus #9960, May 3, St. Michael's Parish Community Center. Cocktails 6 p.m., dinner 7 p.m. Entertainment will be provided. Five-course dinner served family style including: antipasto, tortellini soup, pasta, chicken marsala, roasted potatoes, green beans and dessert. $20 per person. Tables of eight can be reserved. CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS
The E.L. Rec. Dept. announces that tryouts for the 2008 cheerleading squads will take place April 29, 30 and May 1 for residents at Birchland Park attendance is required on all three days. Participants must be registered prior to tryouts. Season will run from June - October. Any questions, call Rec. Dept. at 525-5437. PRESERVING WEALTH
John G. Dee, President of Wealth Preservation Group Inc., will speak about "The Greatest Dangers Retirees Face" on April 23 at 1 p.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. Learn how to preserve your assets and not be a victim of scams. Free and open to all.

UPCOMING JEWELRY CLASSES
Just in time for Mother's Day and commencements! Sandy Merrill's monthly jewelry class will take place at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St., on May 5 at 9:30 a.m. Cost for instruction is $2; supplies are extra. No registration necessary for this class. In addition, Merrill will host a special class on May 14 at 1 p.m. for students to create a zipper pull/purse embellishment and/or bookmark. This class requires a $2 deposit and you must register as class size is limited to 20. The total cost of the class will not exceed $8 (including deposit).

HEARING SCREENINGS

SCRABBLE AND CRIBBAGE BACK AT SENIOR CENTER
Scrabble has returned to the Pleasant View Senior Center, Mondays at 1 p.m. Cribbage is also back, Fridays at 10 a.m.

TAG AND RUMMAGE SALE
The First Congregational Church of East Longmeadow (at the rotary) will host its annual tag and rummage sale on April 25 from 6 - 8 p.m. and on April 26 from 9 a.m. - noon. Household goods, clothes, shoes, books, toys, tools, silverplate, lamps, etc., all at tag sale prices. Bake sale too. Something for everyone.

WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP
The Friends of the E.L. Public Library will sponsor a watercolor workshop featuring Susan Tilton Pecora on May 3 at 10 a.m. at the library. Pecora is a well known local artist and will be painting a portrait of the library while interacting with the audience. The program is free to the public. GREATER SPRINGFIELD
ASPERGER'S ASSOC. OF NEW ENGLAND
The Western Mass. chapter of the Asperger's Association of New England (AANE) is sponsoring the second annual Matthew Dandurand Memorial Workshop on May 3 at Holyoke Community College. This year's featured speaker is Jennifer McIlwee Myers, an adult with Asperger's Syndrome, who will present two workshops. The morning talk will be "Connecting to Humans: Friendships, Dating, and Relationships with AS," and in the afternoon, "Use Your Brain to Cope with Anxiety and Anger" will be discussed. "LITTLE MERMAID"
Valley Opportunity Council Inc. is pleased to announce that it has a limited number of tickets to see the "Little Mermaid," the latest Disney hit on Broadway on May 18. MOTHER'S DAY SPRING CRAFT FAIR
The Hampshire Regional High School, 19 Stage Rd. in Westhampton, is hosting a Mother's Day Spring Craft Fair on May 3 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The Booster Club will be offering a food table. The school is also sponsoring a raffle with a prize of a homemade quilt. All mothers will be receiving a free raffle ticket upon entering.

MAY MARKET
The 31st annual May Market sponsored by the members of the Suffield Garden Club will take place on May 10 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. It will take place at the Hatheway Barn and grounds of the historic Phelps-Hatheway House, Main Street, Suffield. Admission is free and the prices are right. We'll be there to welcome you, rain or shine so come early and stay until 3 p.m.

LONGMEADOW
CINCO DE MAYO AT STORRS LIBRARY
Join in the fiesta as the Philip Michael Lauro II Discovery Room at the Storrs Library celebrates Cinco de Mayo on May 5 with stories, activities and crafts from our southern neighbors. From 3:15 - 4:15 p.m. children who are in grades kindergarten and up may join the fun and learn about the Mexican culture. THEATRE WORKSHOP
The Pollack Playhouse Teen Theatre will be accepting applications for their summer workshop production of "Seussical the Musical." The program runs from June 25 - August with two shows scheduled for Sept. 5 and 6 in Longmeadow. The workshop is open to kids ages 12 - 16 (we are flexable with age, please e-mail for details). CABLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The next meeting of the Cable Advisory Committee is on April 22 at 7 p.m. in the School Committee Meeting Room in Longmeadow High School, 95 Grassy Gutter Rd. if available, otherwise in the studio of Longmeadow Community Television, also in Longmeadow High School.

Financial Sub-Committee Meeting

"LONGMEAODOW IDOL" AUDITIONS
Longmeadow middle school students should not miss out on the opportunity to audition for "Longmeadow Idol," April 29 and 30 at 3 p.m. in the Williams Middle School auditorium. Individual acts as well as bands are invited to attend. Contestants should come prepared with a karaoke CD or musical equipment. ARTS ANNUAL SPRING CONCERT
The Performing Arts Department of Bay Path College will present its annual spring concert on April 26 at 8 p.m. and again on April 27 at 2 p.m. in Mills Theatre, Carr Hall on the Longmeadow campus. The performances are free and open to the public as part of Bay Path's spring semester Kaleidoscope Series.

CHALLENGES OF AGING
Jewish Geriatric Services (JGS) will host a special presentation for those caring for loved ones who are facing the challenges of aging. "Caring with Your Head, Heart and Hands" will be take place April 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Julian J. GIRLS LACROSSE CLINIC
For first and second graders. Longmeadow Parks & Rec. is currently accepting registration for a three-day lacrosse clinic for girls. The clinic will provide participants with basic fundamentals and techniques for lacrosse. Participants who have their own equipment should bring it. Equipment including a stick and ball will be provided for each participant to take home with them to practice. Clinic will meet on May 3 from 10 - 11:30 a.m., May 9 from 5:30 - 7 p.m. and May 24 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. at Russell Fields. For more info and registration visit www.lprd.net.

SPRING VOLLEYBALL CLINIC
Girls and boys in grades 5 - 9. Instruction will include the fundamentals and techniques for volleyball. The clinic is geared toward all levels of play and is a perfect opportunity for those who want to play at the high school level and for those who are just starting out. YOUNG ARTISTS SERIES: PICASSOS
Children will be exposed to the fun of drawing, painting and sculpture with real art materials. The focus is on the process, which will nurture your child's creativity, confidence and self-expression. All materials are included. Wear clothing that can get messy. Ages 3 - 5 and parents are welcome! Program dates are Fridays, May 16 - June 2 from 10 - 10:30 a.m. at Greenwood Children's Center.

MUSICAL NOTES FOR INFANTS, TODDLERS & PRESCHOOLERS
Clap, sing and move with your child in this program designed for your child's enjoyment. Music is known to increase a child's emotional intelligence, creativity and social skills. These programs will use singing, music and use of various instruments. Classes run for six-weeks and are located at in the Greenwood Children's Center Community Room. Classes for infants up to age 15 months meet on Tuesdays through May 20 from 10 - 10:30 a.m. Classes for toddlers from 15 months - age 3 meet on Tuesdays, through May 20 from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. or Tuesdays from April 22 - May 27 from 11:15 a.m. - noon, or Mondays through May 19 from 11:15 a.m. - noon. BASEBALL CLINIC
This clinic for boys and girls ages 7 - 12 will help develop a life-long passion for baseball. Professional and college-level coaches will provide instruction in fielding, throwing, hitting, pitching and physical conditioning. Chris Corkum and CEO Dan Brooks are Associate Scouts for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Clinic will take place April 23 - 24 from 9 - 11:30 a.m. at the Greenwood Field. Rain date is April 25. ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST

JOHN BARKMAN MEMORIAL FISHING DERBY
A Longmeadow tradition, especially for children ages 3 - 14. Laurel Pond will be stocked with hungry trout in preparation for the derby. Kids bring their own tackle and families enjoy a great community fellowship day. There will be prizes for first fish, longest fish and most fish caught in each age division. Refreshments and bait will be available for purchase. Back this year: Touch-A-Truck! We will have some of our Parks trucks for the kids to see up close. This is a free event. Pre-registration is not required. The fishing derby will take place May 4 from 9 - 11 a.m. at Laurel Pond.

"SCHOOLS OUT, LET'S PLAY"
Make vacation special! There is limited space available for care of Longmeadow children in grades 1 - 6 during school vacation weeks, sign up now to ensure your spot! Children will take part in a wide variety of fun activities, field trips, outdoor play, etc. Send a bag lunch daily. FUNDRAISER
The family and friends of Peter Kourouvacilis will be hosting a fundraiser in honor of Kourouvacilis, who has been diagnosed with stage four lymphoma cancer. A Springfield city police officer for 15 years and recently an officer in Miami Garden, Fla., he is 43 years and married with three children. Proceeds from this benefit will go directly to his family. The benefit will be family-friendly with bounce houses, a DJ, food, drink and much more. FALL TRIP TO ITALY

DINNER AND SPRING AUCTION
A dinner and spring auction hosted by Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Ave., will take place May 10. The dinner and auction preview begin at 6 p.m., followed by a silent auction at 7 p.m. A live auction offering one of a kind items such as use of vacation homes on Cape Cod and Marco Island, jewelry, antiques and collectibles will begin at 7:30 p.m. Dinner: chicken marsala; cost is $12.50 per person. Dinner reservations are required and can be made in advance by calling the church office at 737-5311. Deadline for reservations is May 7. There is no charge for attending just the auction.

FREE ONE DAY PASS
A free one day pass courtesy of Six Flags New England will be given to all presenting blood donors at the American Red Cross Six Flags blood drive taking place at the Greek Cultural Center, 8 Plainfield St., on April 24 from noon - 7 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments have priority. TRIP TO MAINE
St. Peter's Episcopal Church, located at 45 Buckingham St., will have its annual bus trip to Kittery, Maine, on July 12. The bus will leave Big Y parking lot on Boston Road at 8 a.m. and return approx. 8 p.m. Tickets: $45 for adults, $40 for seniors and $25 for children 12 and under. WILBRAHAM
EVANGEL UNIVERSITY CONCERT CHOIR TO PERFORM
The Evangel University Concert Choir will appear at Evangel Assembly, 348 Stony Hill Rd., on May 16 at 7 p.m. The choir is a 46-member ensemble currently touring the state.
