AGAWAM
NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK
Celebrate National Library week April 13 - 19 at the Agawam Library. Bubblemania will perform on April 12 at 11 a.m. for ages five - 95. Casey Carle will present an amazing display of bubbles, creating sculptures, giant floating bubbles and even encasing a child in a bubble.

JAZZ CAFE
On April 10 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. the Agawam High School Jazz Band will perform in a caf setting for audience members to sit, relax and enjoy their talent. There will be a 50/50 raffle and this event will include pastries and coffee. Cost is $5; tickets will be sold at the door. Park in the main parking lot and enter by the gym.

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
"Snow Buddies," April 22 at 6 p.m. for all ages. Disney's adorable talking puppies are back in a thrilling dog sled race across Alaska. Rated G, 87 min. at the Agawam Public Library.

GAMES
"Games, Games, Games," April 23 from 2:30 - 4 p.m. for ages five - eight. Bring your friends for board game fun. Play giant Candyland, Interactive Clue and more at the Agawam Public Library.

DDR (DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION)
DDR (DanceDance Revolution) and Guitar Hero April 24 from 2 - 3:30 p.m. for ages eight - 12. Lots of fun dancing with interactive video games at the Agawam Public Library.

BABYSITTING BASICS
Babysitting Basics May 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. for ages 10 and up. Four-week program offering a wide range of information for babysitters. Health and safety issues will be covered by members of the Agawam police, fire and health departments. Certificates will be awarded to everyone who fulfills the requirements of the program. Registration is required and may be done in person or by calling the Youth Services Department at 789-1550 ext. 4.

ROAST PORK SUPPER
Valley Community Church, 152 South Westfield St., Feeding Hills, will host a roast pork supper on April 12 from 5 - 6:30 p.m. Menu: roast pork, gravy, potatoes, vegetables, salad, applesauce, assorted condiments, rolls and butter, your choice of dessert and beverage. FREE SMOKE DETECTORS
The Agawam Fire Department is partnering with the Agawam Council on Aging to offer free smoke alarms to qualified seniors (60 years and older). The alarms will be installed and educational materials provided. The program will include the removal of old smoke detectors and installation of new ones. Only houses built before 1976 and requiring battery-operated smoke detectors are eligible for this program. The alarms are provided for by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the State Department of Public Health. If interested, call the senior center at 821-0605.

MOHEGAN SUN
Reservations are open for the Lioness bus trip to Mohegan Sun on April 18. Cost is $20 which incudes a $10 meal ticket and a $10 free bet. All reservations must be paid at the time of registration. Call Lillian Doyle at 786-9586 to make a reservation. Parking at the Agawam High School.

LIONESS ZITI AND MEATBALL SUPPER
The Agawam Lioness Club will host their annual ziti and meatball supper at the Lion's Den at the Big E on April 17. Serving will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Tickets are $7; children under 10, $4 and may be purchased from any Lioness member or at the door the night of the supper.

TAG SALE
St. David's Church, 699 Springfield St., Feeding Hills, will be sponsoring a tag sale on June 21 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., rain or shine. Tables will be $15 each to rent. To reserve a table call the church office at 786-6133. Deadline is May 18. A bake sale table is also planned for the event with all proceeds to benefit St. David's.

Free Developmental Screening
On May 2 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., Agawam Early Childhood Center and Westfield Infant Toddler will be having a free developmental screening for children birth through age four. This screening is offered to children who are residents of Agawam or Feeding Hills. Children will be seen by appointment only. Contact the Agawam Early Childhood Center at 821-0597 to schedule an appointment.

CHICOPEE
NEWPORT BRUNCH CRUISE
Come join the Chicopee Parks Dept. and Ely Associates for a trip to Newport, R.I., to board the Vista Jubilee for a two-hour cruise on Narragansett Bay. While sailing Newport's harbor listen to live music and enjoy a superb buffet. Enjoy two hours to sightsee on shore. Roundtrip includes transportation, a guided drive-by tour of the Breakers, free time to view the lobster boats in the bay and time to shop and dine in Newport. SPAGHETTI SUPPER
Faith United Methodist Church, 191 Montcalm St., spaghetti supper April 17 from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Cost: $5, adult; $2.50, children eight - 12; free for children under eight. Dinner includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, homemade desserts, coffee and cold drinks. Take-out is available. Call 533-6093 after 2 p.m. We are handicap accessible to the Fellowship Hall and Sanctuary.

11th Annual Fundraiser
The Family Support Division of the Association For Community Living will be hosting its 11th annual fundraiser on April 18 from 5:30 - 10 p.m. at the Castle of Knights, 1599 Memorial Dr. The event will be a dance party featuring the Down Five Plus Five showband, presenting the best in Motown, R&B and classic soul music. Mohegan Sun bus trip
The Holy Mother of the Rosary Parish of Chicopee will sponsor a Mohegan Sun bus trip on April 13. The bus will leave from Front Street, across from the library. Departure is at 11 a.m., returning at 7:30 p.m. For more info or reservations call Marlene Owczarski at 592-7214.

SCHOLARSHIP SOCIAL & CARD PARTY
The Franco American Women's Association of Chicopee will host its annual scholarship social and card party on April 10 in Nativity Church Hall, 780 Chicopee St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The evening will consist of playing cards or your favorite family board game. We will have door prizes and a raffle, with prizes which have been donated by local businesses and members. Refreshments of sandwiches and desserts made by members will be served. The public is welcome and tickets will be available at the door for $5 per person.

BRIDGE CLOSURE
J.F. White Contracting Company would like to advise you that the Rte. 141 Montgomery Street bridge over the Chicopee River will be closed April 14 at 6 a.m. and will re-open to traffic on April 18 at 6 p.m.

GRANBY
CLERK REMINDERS
A rabies clinic will take place April 12 behind the Town Hall at the Fire Department from 10 a.m. - noon. Cost per animal is $15. Have dogs on a leash and cats in a carrier. If at all possible, bring your pet's last rabies certificate. Dog licensing will also be available at this clinic. GREATER SPRINGFIELD
TOBACCO VALLEY ARTISTS
The April meeting of the Tobacco Valley Artists Association will be April 16 at 7 p.m. at the Somers Senior Center, 19 Battle St., Somers, Conn. Demonstrator for the evening will be Rick Stromoski from Suffield, a nationally syndicated cartoonist. The public is welcome to attend.

BLUE MAN GROUP PERFORMANCE
St. Mary's Church, 840 Page Blvd., East Springfield, is sponsoring a trip to Boston to see the July 20 matinee performance by the Blue Man Group at the Charles Theater. Prior to the show, you will have 3 - 4 hours on your own. Drop-off point is Quincy Market. Bus leaves St. Mary's parking lot at 10 a.m. and returns approx. 7 p.m. Cost: $71 per person. SPRING IS IN THE AIR
Springfield Garden Club's "Spring is in the Air," a special meeting featuring Bob Whitney of Springfield Florists Supply, will take place April 18 in the hall of Wilbraham United Church, Main St., Wilbraham. Beginning with tea at 11:30 a.m., the program will highlight Whitney's creation of floral arrangements using spring blossoms. All interested perons are invited. Guest fee: $5. GIGANTIC BOOK SALE
Gigantic book sale April 25 - 26 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Friends of West Springfield Public Library fundraiser. Thousands of good used books donated by friend and patrons, some like new. Fiction, non-fiction, hardcover, softcover, music, tapes, CDs, VHS movies, children's, vintage and much more at reasonable prices. Taking place in the youth room at the library located on the corner of Park and Elm Streets.

CALL FOR CLOTHING PICK-UP
Big Brothers Big Sisters will be sending trucks throughout Hampden County for a free pick-up of donated used clothing and shoes in good condition. Items will be resold to Savers thrift stores or recycled as a fundraiser to support mentoring programs in the community. To find out when trucks will be in neighborhoods for pick-ups, call 732-7111.

"A Catered Affair"
June 25 on Broadway. "A Catered Affair" is a new musical written by and starring Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein as he explores the meaning of family and the need for love. "Young Frankenstein"
July 30 on Broadway. "Young Frankenstein" is Mel Brooks' funny twist on Mary Shelley's classic story as it comes alive on the Broadway stage. SJB Golf Tournament
Please join us for the ninth annual St. John the Baptist School Golf Outing on May 12 at Ludlow Country Club. The format will be a four-person scramble with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. SPRINGFIELD ROTARY CLUB
The Springfield Rotary Club announced that Dr. Alex Gillat, principal of Springfield Academy of Excellence (SAFE), will address the Springfield Rotary Club's luncheon meeting on April 11. His topic will be the seven Springfield Academy for Excellence schools. The Springfield Rotary Club meets every Friday at 12:15 p.m. in the Mass Mutual Room at The Basketball Hall of Fame, West Columbus Avenue, and is a proud member of Rotary International.

Tag Sale and Vendor Show
The planning committee of the American Cancer Society of Greater Springfield will host a tag sale and vendor show on April 12 at Our Lady of Sacred Heart School, 52 Rosewell St. There will be tag sale items available from teams from the Relay For Life of Greater Springfield and Vendors such as Tastefully Simple, Lia Sophia and many more. All proceeds will benefit the Relay For Life of Greater Springfield.

Dunbar Community Center
The Dunbar Community Center presents Modern/Contemporary dance class for teens. Come and take advantage of an opportunity to learn "The Lester Horton Technique." Classes are being offered every Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. until June for free. Sign up today. Classes are be taught by Gina Emanuel-Satchell.

Spring Auction
A spring auction hosted by Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Ave., will take place May 10. The preview begins at 6 p.m. followed by a Silent Auction at 7 p.m. A live auction offering one of a kind items such as use of a vacation home on Cape Cod, jewelry, antiques and collectibles will begin at 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Earth Day Event

WESTFIELD
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Westfield River Watershed Association needs volunteers to help stock salmon fry in Westfield River tributaries on April 12 and 26. The salmon fry stocking is part of the effort to restore Atlantic salmon to the Westfield River. The fry stocking takes about four hours and can be fun for the whole family. Bring water, a light lunch and river boots or waders, if you have them. On April 12 meet at 8 a.m. in the commuter parking lot of Westfield State College. PASSOVER SEDER
Congregation Ahavas Achim will host a community Passover Seder on April 20 at 4:30 p.m. at the Masonic Hall, 72 Broad St. There will be an interactive Seder led by Rabbi Joyce Galaski. READERS WELCOMED
Community readers are invited to read to fourth and fifth grade classes in the elementary schools in Westfield. Readers will be scheduled at a convenient time for them. In keeping with the theme of the American Library Association for "National Library Week," the books will reflect "the circle of knowledge," specifically those of family, friendship and life. ROCK CLIMBING
The YMCA of Greater Westfield is offering some great programs at Camp Shepard Outdoor Center this spring. "Rock Climbing and High Adventure," a class to develop skills in climbing, knowledge of necessary equipment, belay technique and safety will be offered Saturdays, April 12 - May 24 from 12:45 - 2 p.m. for ages seven and up. Families and adult participants are welcome to join us. All necessary equipment will be provided.

BASEBALL REGISTRATION
The YMCA of Greater Westfield is continuing to accept registrations until April 23 for spring baseball programs: Tee-ball (ages 4.5 - 5), Coaches Pitch (ages 6 - 7) and Fundamental Baseball (ages 8 - 10). Parents are also encouraged to become actively involved with the program. This can be done by completing the registration form at the reception desk at the YMCA, 67 Court St.

WEST SPRINGFIELD
GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 13th annual Golf Tournament and Auction sponsored by the St. Thomas the Apostle School PTO of W. Springfield will take place May 16 at the Oak Ridge Country Club with a shot gun start at 12:30 p.m. Donation is $125 per golfer, which includes 18 holes of golf with cart, refreshments on the course, lunch, dinner, raffle, prizes and auction. Non-golfer tickets are available for dinner and auction for a donation of $35. COIN SHOW
The West Springfield Coin Club will host its semi-annual Coin Show at the Dante Club, 1198 Memorial Ave., from 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. on April 13. Baptist Village Cemetery Association will host its annual meeting on April 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the library in the meeting room.
