TRAVELING POOL LEAGUE
The Agawam Senior Center "Traveling Pool League" is looking for some additional pool players to join their team. The traveling league plays every Monday around 1 p.m. at different senior centers each week. This is a great way to get out and meet new friends and have fun while showcasing your pool skills. "POWER LAB"
The Bethany Assembly of God invites Children to "Power Lab," Discovering Jesus' Miraculous Power for kids age three through sixth grade. "Power Lab" is free Aug. 11 - 15. Meet at Bethany Assembly of God, 580 Main St., each morning from 9 a.m. - noon. For info, call 789-2930.
NEW LIBRARY EXHIBIT
For the month of August, the Agawam Public Library will be showcasing the photography of Ed "Boots" Flebotte. Displayed will be several of the national parks, including the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Yosemite and Acadia along with scenery from other areas of the country, local landmarks and parks, and flowers. Viewing will be during regular library hours.
GARDEN CLUB MEETING
The public is invited to attend the next meeting of the Agawam Garden Club at 7 p.m. on Aug. 12 in the Community Room of the Agawam Public Library, 750 Cooper St. The meeting will focus on "Seed Collecting and Planting My Way," presented by Frank Lamontagne. Club membership is open to all who enjoy an interest in plants, and dues are $15. Guests are always welcome, and light refreshments will be served.
MEET-THE-CANDIDATE LUNCHEON
The Agawam Republican Town Committee will host a meet-the-candidate luncheon fundraiser for Jeff Beatty, candidate for United States Senate. The luncheon will take place at the Corey Colonial Condominiums Clubhouse in Agawam on Aug. 20 from noon - 1:30 p.m. Donation of $25. Guided walks in Robinson State Park will take place on Aug. 9 and 16 from 9:30 - 11 a.m. Guided by Bob Leverett. Meet at James Street entrance (look for signs). DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP
The next meeting will be on Aug. 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. Diane Weston, RN will provide info on ways to manage your diabetes, help you with your diet plan, provide instruction on the use of a glucometer, info on research and new developments and answer questions you may have. New members are always welcome and for more info call Jared at 534-3698. This program is offered free of charge, although donations are welcome.
ALZHEIMER'S CAREGIVERS
On Aug. 20 Gerri Bennett, RN will provide info on Alzheimer's. Support is also given to help you provide the best care for your loved one. CELTIC SPRING
The Chicopee Senior Travel Club is going to the Garde Arts Center in New London to see Celtic Spring, one of the top acts in the finals of "America's Got Talent" on Sept. 23. NORMAN ROCKWELL MUSEUM
The Chicopee Senior Travel Club will be traveling to the Berkshires on Sept. 30. Join us for lunch at the historic Red Lion, formerly a stage coach stop, followed by time to stroll along Main Street and browse through the specialty shops. Then follows an afternoon at the all-new Norman Rockwell Museum. "TASTE OF GERMANY" TRIP
Join the Aldenville Seniors of St. Rose de Lima on Oct. 2 as they journey to Round Top, N.Y., for a "Taste of Germany." A local guide will meet us as we travel to Blackhead Mountain Lodge for a "spaetzle" making demonstration followed by lunch; there will be three choices. FAST AND EASY SKIN CARE TIPS
The Granby Public Library will be hosting a "Fast, Easy Skin Care Tips" program for its Adult Summer Reading program participants. Kate Mercier, a local Mary Kay representative, will do a demo and provide tips on how to best care for your skin in a hurry this summer. ANNUAL PICNIC
The Friends of Granby Elderly would like to invite you to join us during the next few months for some of our activities. On Aug. 20 we will host our Annual Picnic at Dufresne Field from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. This will include a chicken barbecue with cold salads, rolls, beverages, dessert and live music with DJ Kevin. Donation is $5 per person.
Grandparents Fishing Derby
On Sept. 7 we will host a Grandparents Fishing Derby sponsored by the Western MA Anglers Club and Waste Management at Dufresne Field with all equipment furnished by the Anglers Club and the food will be prepared by the Friends. This event is free for everyone from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Bring your grandchildren and enjoy.
train ride
On Sept. 30 our buses will depart to Meredith, N.H., for a train ride around Lake Winnipesaukee. While enjoying the ride we will have the Harts Famous Turkey Dinner. Fee includes the bus, train ride, turkey dinner and the driver's gratuity. Departure time is 7 a.m. from Immaculate Heart of Mary in Granby and return approx. 6:30 p.m.
MEMORIES OF MOUNTAIN PARK
The Granby Free Public Library will be hosting "Memories of Mountain Park" from Jay Ducharme. The group will view a wonderful slide show that is sure to bring back memories!
