FAMILY FUN DAY

LOBSTER COMEDY SHOW
The Agawam Golden Agers, Chapter Two is hosting an All You Can Eat Lobster and Comedy Show at the Delaney House in Holyoke on July 15. The menu consists of a vegetable platter, shrimp cocktail and buffet menu of lobster, beef tips marsala with noodles, Seafood Newburg, Chicken A La King, variety of salads, potatoes, green beans, breads, dessert and beverage. DONATIONS FOR USED BOOK SALE
The Friends of the Agawam Public Library are preparing for their annual book sale. This year the sale will be May 16 from 3 - 6 p.m. and May 17 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Community Room at the Agawam Public Library at 750 Cooper St. If you have any books (hardcover or paperback), CDs or videos you would like to donate please drop them off at the library during regular library hours. All proceeds will go to support programs at the library.

FREE TAX-AIDE
AARP tax aide volunteers will be providing free tax return preparation during February, March and April at the Agawam Senior Center. Call to make an appointment. Bring a copy of last year's tax return to expedite preparation. Also bring a copy of real estate taxes and water/sewer bills paid in 2007 if you quality for the "Circuit Breaker" property tax credit. Bring heating fuel receipts for January, February and March 2007 for possible state tax reduction. AARP tax aide volunteers work in conjunction with the IRS to bring you this service free of charge. Call the senior center at 821-0605 to make an appointment. This service is available only to Agawam senior citizens.

CHICOPEE
MEN'S GROUP
There is a new Men's Group at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. The group will meet on the fourth Monday of each month at 10 a.m. This group is designed for men who are looking to be part of a large circle of their peers. The group will discuss a variety of topics each month and will be open to topics that a member of the group may wish to discuss. The next meeting will be Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. Anyone interested in attending this group or for more info call Jared Krok at the Senior Center, 534-3698.

WEST POINT DRESS PARADE
West Point invites you to view the famous dress parade of cadets on April 26. Lunch will be at the Hotel Thayer's fabulous buffet. IN GOOD COMPANY
In Good Company is a support group for people who are feeling blue or experiencing mild depression. The support group now meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month. The next meeting will be Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. There is no fee for this program. TAI CHI CLASS
Chicopee Council on Aging invites you to experience a Tai Chi class. Movements are slow and graceful, making it appropriate for people of all levels of physical ability. CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP
On Feb. 26, a support group for those providing care will be held at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. from 3 - 4 p.m. It is free of charge and if you would like more info or to register call 534-3698. The Caregivers Support Group meets once a month on the fourth Tuesday and is facilitated by Jared Krok, social service coordinator ad Ken Sibley, Chicopee Visiting Nurse Association.

CHICOPEE HISTORIAN SPEAKER
Chicopee historian Stephen R. Jendrysik will be the guest speak at this month's meeting of the Chicopee Historical Society. Jendrysik, the author of "A Postcard History of Chicopee," "The Polish Community of Chicopee," and "Chicopee in the 1940s," will be on hand to discuss his latest book project. "Chicopee in the 1950s" is scheduled for publication in November 2009. The Historical Society is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Feb. 20 at the Edward Bellamy Homestead located at 91 Church St. The public is invited and as always following the program refreshments are served.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION MTG

ALZHEIMER'S SUPPORT GROUP

TALENT SHOW
Sign-ups and rehearsal will take place Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. Show will take place Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. Singers, dancers, musicians and comedians are asked to come and be signed up. POLISH SOCIETY TO PRESENT FILM
The Society of Polish American Culture will present a film biography of the famous Polish silent film movie actress Pola Negri. The film, titled "Life is a Dream in Cinema," traces her life from her silent film career, her Hollywood studio years and the many adventures and people she met along the way. This video will be featured at the Society's meeting on Feb. 18 at the Chicopee Lodge of Elks, 431 Granby Rd., at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited without charge and light refreshments will be served.

SPAGHETTI SUPPER
Faith United Methodist Church, 191 Montcalm St., will host a spaghetti supper Feb. 21 from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Cost: $5, adult; $2.50, children eight to 12; free for children under eight. Dinner includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, homemade desserts, coffee and cold drinks. 'SENIOR' PROM
If you are looking for a night out on the town, join us for the Senior Prom to be held April 18. This fun-filled evening will include a hot buffet catered by Creative Caterers and music by Sound Sensations. A cash bar will be available for the beverage of your choice. Semi-formal dress will make the night seem special and make enjoying the company of your friends a welcome change from the winter doldrums. ORCHID SHOW
The Amherst Orchid Society will hold its annual orchid show on Feb. 23, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Feb. 24, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Smith Vocational High School, 80 Locust St., Route 9, Northampton, next to Cooley Dickinson Hospital. There is a nominal fee. Children under 12 are free. This show will be judged by the American Orchid Society and is open to the public. There will be a number of orchid displays and vendors. COOKING WITH MINO
The second class in the series titled "Cooking with Mino" is scheduled for Feb. 19 and is quickly filling up. Every class will consist of five courses, and Mino shows you step-by-step instructions for each authentic Italian dish. When the dish is completed, you will sit down to enjoy it with a glass of wine paired specifically to that course. The process (cooking demo/consumption of food and wine) will be repeated with each dish. Class will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Register early. Class size is limited to 15 people. ADOPTION INFORMATION MEETING
Wide Horizons For Children Inc., an adoption agency located in Pittsfield, will be hosting an Adoption Information Meeting for those who are considering adoption. This meeting, which is free of charge, will be held at Holyoke Community College on Feb. 20 from 6 - 8 p.m. An experienced adoption social worker will discuss the adoption process and be available to answer questions about adoption. SPRINGFIELD ROTARY CLUB
The Springfield Rotary Club announced that Dennis Picard, director of Storrowton Village Museum, will address the Rotary Club's luncheon meeting on Feb. 15. The subject of this talk will be "Crystal Products of the Frost King: Ice Harvesting and the Natural Ice Industry in New England." Picard has been demonstrating the ice harvesting trade for 10 years at museums and environmental education centers. He will display some of his antique tools of that trade including several invented here in Massachusetts. The Springfield Rotary Club meets every Friday at 12:15 p.m. in the Mass Mutual Room at The Basketball Hall of Fame. The Rotary luncheon, with guest speaker Picard, is $17 per person and is open to the public. COMEDY AND JAZZ
An evening of comedy and jazz will be presented by the 100th Anniversary Committee of the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield. The event will be held March 1 at the Greek Cultural Center, and will feature Greek-American comedienne Ellen Karis and the music of the Lou Stamas Trio. KIDS FAIR
Mark your calendars for March 15 for fun and games at the Westfield Boys & Girls club located at 28 Silver St. The Regional Animal Shelter Renovation Project Inc. will be hosting a fun filled day for kids with proceeds going build a No-Kill, Regional Animal Shelter. The event will include a bounce house, games with prizes, face painting and a create-a-craft table as well as Shriner's Clowns. REACTIVE ATTACHMENT DISORDER
Interested in finding out more about Reactive Attachment Disorder (RADS), a disease that strikes many adopted and foster kids? HUMASON SEEKING INTERNS
Rep. Donald Humason Jr. is seeking interns who are interested in gaining knowledge about state and local government by working in his Westfield district office or State House office. The ideal intern is usually a college or high school student who receives some sort of school credit for the structured internship experience. Retired individuals may also find the work interesting and rewarding. Positions are available immediately. Preference will be given to individuals from Westfield. SHAKE/ROMP & ROLL AT YMCA
The YMCA of Greater Westfield will be holding its late winter registration for Shake/Romp & Roll, a preschool indoor children's playgroup on Feb. 18. The program is offered on Thursdays from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. or Fridays from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. There is a fee. This program is a great way to release energy for the busy child aged nine months to four years. Parents accompany your child as he/she plays on indoor playground equipment. "SHOWBIZ 101"
Registration begins Feb. 18 at the Westfield YMCA for a new program titled "Showbiz 101." This drama program is geared for youth ages eight - 14 and will run on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. - noon beginning March 1. The program will run for eight weeks and there is a fee. Membership is required. Participants will have fun learning basic theater and movement incorporating acting, theater, dance, improvisation, voice training, comportment and theater and film history. "A WRITER'S PLAYGROUND"
The YMCA of Greater Westfield will be offering a writer's workshop series titled "A Writer's Playground," which will be held on Thursdays from 7 - 8:30 p.m. from Feb. 28 - April 17. HUMASON'S PUBLIC OFFICE HOURS
Westfield State Rep. Donald Humason Jr. and his Legislative Aide will hold public office hours at the Tea Pot Gallery on Feb. 22 from 10:30 - noon. They will be available to meet with Westfield constituents to discuss state issues in the cafe. COIN CLUB
The West Springfield Coin Club will meet on Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 214 Elm St. A presentation and discussion will include facts about the 1916-17 Standing Liberty Quarter. RUMMAGE SALE
A mid-winter Rummage Sale will take place at Grace Lutheran Church on Rte. 20 on Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Gently used clothing and housewares as well as tools, electronics and small furniture will be featured. Feline Friends will have a table with adoptable cats free to good homes. All proceeds of the sale will be matched by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, a non-profit financial organization which supports congregational outreach. SOUP SUPPERS DURING LENT
On Wednesday evenings during Lent, Grace Lutheran Church on Rte. 20 will sponsor a soup supper at 6 p.m. followed by a service of Holden Evening Prayer. Each service will include a brief reading/meditation based on a series titled "Shadows of the Cross" and will focus on a particular event in Christ's journey to the cross. The suppers will continue every Wednesday evening through March 12. These services are in addition to the regular weekend services. On Sundays, children take part in the beginning of the service and then are released for Sunday School classes. Coffee hour follows all Sunday morning services.

NEW YORK CITY TRIP
The West Springfield Park & Rec. Dept. is sponsoring a bus trip to New York City on April 12. Bus leaves municipal parking lot at 7 a.m. and will have drop offs in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Once in NYC you will be on your own to shop or see a show. Bus will leave New York City at 5:30 p.m. with a short dinner stop on the way home. Reservations with payment may be made at the Park & Rec.
