AGAWAM
JAZZ CAFE
The Agawam High School bands proudly present their fourth annual Jazz Cafe on Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the Agawam High School cafeteria. Join us for an evening of music, fine desserts and coffees. The jazz band will be joined by the percussion ensemble. Tickets: $5/pp and include the concert and refreshments.

CURRENT VACANCIES
Mayor Richard Cohen is seeking Agawam residents to be appointed to fill current vacancies on the Historical Commission, Planning Board, Commission on Disabilities and the Council on Aging. TAVERN LUNCHEON
On Feb. 27, a Tavern Luncheon will take place at the Captain Charles Leonard House, 663 Main St., at 11:30 a.m. Menu: beef stroganoff, assorted condiments, tea or coffee and cherry cobbler. A donation of $10 per meal is required. Reservations can be made by calling the Leonard House at 786-9421.

MOVIE MATINEE
A movie matinee of Disney's "G-Force" will take place at the Agawam Public Library on Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. for ages 3 and up. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

CRAFTS FOR KIDS
The Agawam Library Teen Advisory Council has planned a fun afternoon of games, crafts, food and face painting for children ages 3 and up on Feb. 20 from 1 - 3 p.m.

SCRABBLE CLUB SEEKS PLAYERS

GENEALOGY COMPUTER CLASS
The Western Mass. Genealogy Society will have a computer class on Feb. 18 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Agawam Senior Center, 954 Main St., Agawam. Come and learn how to search your ancestors on the Web. There is a $10 fee to take the computer class or $20 for full membership with the Western Mass. Genealogy Society.

ANNUAL ORCHID SHOW
The Amherst Orchid Society will host its annual orchid show on Feb. 20, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Feb. 21, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. with the sales area open Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Smith Vocational High School, 80 Locust St., Rte. 9, Northampton. There is a fee of $3. Children under 12 are free. This show will be judged by the American Orchid Society and is open to the public. There will be a number of orchid displays and vendors. TOBACCO VALLEY ARTISTS
The February meeting of the Tobacco Valley Artists Assoc. will be Feb. 17, 7 p.m., at the Somers Senior Center, 19 Battle St., Somers, Conn. It will feature a demo of watercolor techniques by noted area artist Susan Pecora, well known for the PBS television show "Reflections Through Watercolor" on Springfield's WGBY. She currently teaches painting classes at the Museum of Fine Arts in Springfield as well as her studio gallery at Thorndike Mill Art Center. The meeting is open to the public.

SAVE THE DATE
The Log Cabin Memories Live On Fundraiser for the new Senior Center will take place April 8 at the Log Cabin. Dinner will include favorite foods from the original recipes of Edna Williams. Everyone is welcome: former customers, employees from the original Log Cabin Restaurant, friends and supporters of the New Holyoke Senior Center and anyone who enjoys good food. CRAFT SALE
The Springfield Hobby Club will host its annual craft sale on March 4 and 5 from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at 309 Chestnut St. (lower Franklin next to the YMCA). In addition to craft tables, there will be a snack bar, bake sale, jewelry and white elephant tables and members tables. The Thrift Shop will host a fill-a-bag for $5 during the same hours.

ASH WEDNESDAY SUPPER/SERVICE
Foster Memorial Church hosts a Potluck Supper on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17, beginning at 7 p.m. downstairs in Fellowship Hall. SPRINGFIELD GARDEN CLUB
Restoring the Olmstead Garden at the Palmer Train Depot will be the topic of the Feb. 19 meeting of the Springfield Garden Club. Robin Lamothe, co-owner of the Steaming Tender Restaurant at the restored train station will be the presenter, giving an overview of Frederick Olmstead's many garden and park designs including Central Park and the many parks in the Boston area, as well as displaying her plans for restoring the Palmer Depot garden. FIREFIGHTER EXAM
State Rep. Don Humason and Sen. Mike Knapik announced the Municipal Civil Service Firefighter examination will take place April 24. The Mass. Human Resource Division (HRD) of the Executive Office of Administration and Finance is responsible for the administration of this state wide entry-level exam. Deadline to apply to take the exam is March 16. Those interested can apply online at www.mass.gov/civilservice.

BRONX ZOO BUS TRIP
The W.S. Park & Rec. Dept. is sponsoring a bus trip to the Bronx Zoo on May 22. Day includes roundtrip motor coach, the Bronx Zoo Total Experience Pass, which includes zoo entrance, Skyfari, monorail, Congo Gorilla exhibit, Children's Zoo and Butterfly Garden. BUS TRIP TO NEW YORK CITY
The W.S. Park & Rec. Dept is sponsoring a bus trip to New York City on April 24. Bus leaves municipal parking lot at 7:30 a.m. and returns home at approx. 9:30 p.m. Drop offs and pick up site in New York to be determined by bus driver. Once in NYC, you will be on your own. Bus will leave NYC at 5:30 p.m. with a short dinner stop on the way home (dinner not included in price). A movie will be shown for your enjoyment while on the bus.
