SWEETHEART DINNER DANCE

POT LUCK SUPPER
The Women's Fellowship of the First Congregational Church will host a pot luck supper on Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Cheri Brady. Her subject will be the "Mind-Body Connection" for healing and optimal performance. She will discuss various aspects of her field as health provider, a clinical hypnotherapist and touch practitioner.

ANNUAL 50s DANCE

SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB
The E.L. Senior Friendship Club will be celebrating National Popcorn Day and play BINGO on Jan. 31 at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. Luncheon is beef stew, 5-way mixed vegetables, buttermilk biscuit and Jello. AARP TAX ASSISTANCE
AARP Tax Aide Counselors will start doing income tax processing at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St., beginning Feb. 4. Due to ongoing renovations, we can only accommodate four tax counselors, so we are giving priority to E.L. residents this year. Out of town residents can call us for alternate site locations. Please call early for your appointment at 525-5436, or come in to sign up. Information packets detailing what you will need to bring to your appointment are available for pick-up at the Senior Center.

FALCONS HOCKEY TICKETS
The E.L. Rec. Dept. has Falcons hockey tickets for any season game. Price is $11/pp and may be purchased between hours of 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Mon. - Fri.

BASEBALL TRIPS

Shaker Bowl After School Program
Offered at Mt. View, Mapleshade and Birchland. Cost includes 1.5 hrs. of bowling, shoe rental, bus transportation from school and party at end of program. Program runs Jan. 28/29 - April 14/15 from 2:45 - 5 p.m./2:30 - 4:30 p.m., depending on which school your child attends. (No session Feb. 18,19 or April 8). Drop off forms at the E.L. Rec. SUSHI AND TZEDAKAH
N'Shei Chabad Women's Circle invites the community to an evening of Sushi and Tzedakah at the home of Fay Smith, 5 Dartmouth Lane, on Feb. 7 at 7:45 p.m. Esther Kosofsky, Director of the Resource Center for Jewish Education will lead a discussion on Tzedakah, charity, "Getting Beyond the Basics." Following the discussion ladies will participate in a sushi making and tasting demonstration. Refreshments will be served. OPEN HOUSE
E.L. High School will hold its second semester open house on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. Parents will meet in the auditorium, then will visit their teenagers' classes at 10-minute intervals throughout the remainder of the evening. Teachers will provide parents with an overview of their courses and state their goals for the semester.

GREATER SPRINGFIELD
SWINGLES SQUARE DANCE CLUB
The Swingles Square Dance Club will hold a mainstream "Sadie Hawkens" dance on Feb. 1. We will host a class dance "Pizza Party" on Feb. 15. We will host a mainstream all singing call on Feb. 29. CAR CAMPAIGN
The Boys and Girls Clubs in Massachusetts are running a car campaign to support their programs. The clubs are asking people with unwanted cars to remember them. Boys and Girls Clubs will now accept most any car, with no restrictions. Cars will be sold at auction and the proceeds will be used to help the local clubs. A call to 800-246-0493 will get the process underway. The number can be called at any time.

ST. ROSE DE LIMA TRIP
Join the seniors of St. Rose de Lima on March 27 as they travel to Parker's Maple Barn in Mason, N.H., for breakfast. There will be time for shopping followed by dinner at Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley, Mass. For more info call 533-9282.

HARLEM GOSPEL CHOIR
The renowned Harlem Gospel Choir will perform at Amherst College's Buckley Recital Hall in the Arms Music Building on Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. The concert, which is free and open to the public, is part of the college's celebration of the life of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

PIONEER VALLEY STAMP CLUB
The Pioneer Valley Stamp Club will meet on Feb. 12 and 26 at the First United Church of Christ on Rte. 5 across from the Community Center. BOOK CLUB CHAT
The Hampden Free Public Library hosts a Book Club Chat the first Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. in the library. The next meeting will be Feb. 2 to discuss "Waiting" by Ha Jin. This book was the winner of the 1999 National Book Award for Fiction.

"LIVE IT, DON'T DIET"
As part of its Kaleidoscope Series, Bay Path College will host a presentation by Nancy Dell, MS, RD, CDE entitled "Live it, Don't Diet: You Need to Love What You Eat to be Healthy." The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. in Breck Suite, Wright Hall on the Longmeadow campus. This program will focus on everyday nutritional tips including eating on the go, cooking for one and how to avoid the diet cycle or how to really "live" the nutritional lifestyle. "SCHOOLS OUT, LET'S PLAY"
There is limited space available for care of Longmeadow children in grades 1 - 6 during school vacation weeks; sign up now to ensure your spot. Children will take part in a wide variety of fun activities, field trips, outdoor play, etc. Send a bag lunch daily. You may sign up for the days of your choice. A detailed flyer with information about daily events will be distributed through the schools. February vacation is Feb. 18 - 22. VACATION OPEN SWIM
Ages 10 and older or those younger accompanied by an adult can come and swim at the heated indoor pool. Changing rooms and showers are available. Lifeguard on duty. Open swim is taking place Feb. 19 and 21 from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Longmeadow High School Pool.

DIVING FOR BOWLING BALLS
We won't really be diving for bowling balls! Kids ages eight - 12 will have 90 minutes for swimming from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. followed by bowling at Shaker Bowl in E. Longmeadow. A pizza lunch will be provided at the bowling alley before bowling. School bus transportation provided from the pool to the bowling alley. Program will take place Feb. 20. AFTER SCHOOL THEATRE PROGRAM
Grades 4 - 8. This unique drama club is an after school program through the Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept. Instructor will teach participants a variety of theatrical activities but the central emphasis will be a two-night performance of the comedy "Fifteen Reasons Not to Do a Play." The performance will take place at the Longmeadow Community House in April. Program will meet on Thursdays and Fridays from Jan. 24 - April 4 from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Thursday classes will take place at the Old Town Hall and Friday classes will be at the Longmeadow Community House. MEN'S BASKETBALL
Evening pick-up games at Glenbrook Gymnasium provide the opportunity for a great work out, competition and fun. Pay for the whole season in advance or pay on a walk in basis. Players must be out of high school to participate in this program. Program meets on Thursdays from 8:30 - 10 p.m. at Glenbrook Middle School. No program on no-school days.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL
This program offers a high level of play for advanced participants. Pick-up games starting at 7:30 p.m. and teams call their own violations. Program meets on Wednesdays from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. at Williams Middle School Gym. Registration accepted on site. No program on no-school days.

KARATE SHOTOKAN STYLE
For adults and children. Shotokan Karate- Do International Federation (SKIF System) includes an international standardized syllabus of stretching, kihon (basic), Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring). Students train in the basic excersices involving punching, blocking, kicking, stances, forms, sparring and self-defense. This class is open to all ages and levels. Members may sign up to attend either the youth classes on Tuesdays or the adult classes on Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays combined with the adult and child class on Thursdays. AMERICAN GIRL WORKSHOP
Come to our Valentine's Craft and Tea Party if you are a fan of the American Girl dolls and books or would like to learn about them. Valentine's Tea Party includes stories, crafts and games about your favorite American Girl. There will be time to sew and design a heart shaped pillow and decorate a beautiful jewelry box with Victorian pictures, shells, beads and gems. At the end of the workshop, participants will have a traditional tea party complete with china cups and teacakes. American Girl books, clothing and accessories will be for sale at discounted prices. LONGMEADOW GIRLS SOFTBALL
The 2008 season will bring some additional changes to the game that will make it even more exciting and competitive. Girls in grades 1 - 9 are eligible to play in this spring league, which runs from April through June. Practices are one to two times per week and generally there are one to two games a week as well. Registration dates: Feb. 2, 9 - 11 a.m. and Feb. 28, 7 - 9 p.m. at the Longmeadow Community House.

LONGMEADOW LITTLE LEAGUE ASSC.
For boys and girls ages five - 12. Coordinated by Longmeadow Little League Association and sponsored by Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept., this in- town program offers an opportunity to learn baseball skills while having fun. Everyone makes a team and all games during regular season are played in town. Each player receives a major league replica jersey and cap to keep. Additional information can be found online at www.eteamz.com/longmeadowll. A SPECIAL DAY WITH MOM OR DAD
Ages 6 - 9. Come celebrate the winter season at the new Longmeadow Art Festival. Come for a snack and stay for crafts. There will be stations for fuse beads, sand art, fingerprints, crown making and fabric crafts. Crafts are planned for child and parents. SNOWMAN BUILDING CONTEST
Weather permitting; ages 4 - 8. Longmeadow Parks & Rec. will be hosting the first annual Snowman Building Contest! You provide the energy, attire and creativity; we will provide the hot chocolate and prizes! Prizes will be awarded for most creative, largest and most original snowman. Parent participation is required! Contest will be Feb. 16 on the Longmeadow Green in front of the Longmeadow Community House from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. This is a free event!

PARENT & CHILD SPORT NIGHT
Ages 5 - 7. Calling all kids! It is time to get your parents in shape! Each week for four weeks we will play a different sport: tee-ball, basketball, kickball and soccer. Adult participation is required! Sport night will meet on Wednesday nights Feb. 6 - 27 from 5:45 - 7 p.m. in the Greenwood Children's Center Gym. Register at the Longmeadow Community House.

"LET'S DANCE"
Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept. will be hosting the annual Father Daughter Dance. What a great opportunity to share a special night with Dad, Grandpa or that special man in your life! There will be lots of dancing, games and snacks. Please dress to impress! Dance will take place Feb. 9 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Longmeadow Community House. TEEN CENTER
Youths in grades 6 - 8 and their guests are welcome to come and enjoy a supervised evening out on Fridays from 7 - 10 p.m. at the Greenwood Center. All students must sign in prior to entry. School dress codes are strictly followed. Teen Center is run and staffed by area college students. Parent information packets are available on site at each teen center event. LENTEN LUNCHEONS

ENHANCE CAREER TRAINING
With the goal of enhancing career training opportunities for area business professionals, the Center for Business and Technology at STCC has partnered with the Employer's Association of the NorthEast (EANE) of Agawam, and will conduct a variety of workshops and seminars at the college during the next few months. Programs available during the upcoming term include: All Stressed Up.and no Place to Go, Customer Service Excellence and Time Management for Support Staff. Space in all programs is limited and pre-registration is required. Interested individuals should contact The Center for Business and Technology at 755-4502 to request a free and detailed brochure.

PERSONAL TRAINER CERTIFICATION
ABCNews.com ranks personal training as the fourth hottest job in the country at a national average salary of $25 an hour. The Center for Business and Technology (CBT) at STCC has partnered with the World Instructor Training Schools (WITS) to offer this program that prepares individuals for careers in this exciting field and for national certification as personal trainers. This challenging program will be taught over a five-week period and will include coverage of anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, health screening, etc. Afternoons will be spent at an area gym providing practical "hands on" training that prepares participants to work with clients. There are a limited number of spaces available in this program so interested individuals should call CBT at 755-4502 or 755-4501 for complete details.

ITALIAN CLASSES
The Italian Cultural Center is sponsoring Italian Language Classes for Beginners I, II and Intermediate Levels beginning March 4. Classes are taught at 56 Margaret St. Parking in Mt. Carmel Church and School parking lot. Classes are eight weeks in duration from 6 - 8 p.m. There is a registration fee. ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY

WILBRAHAM
OPEN HOUSE
The second semester open house for Minnechaug Regional High School is scheduled for Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. As Minnechaug is on the 4 x 4 block schedule, students are enrolled in four new courses for second semester. This open house affords parents the opportunity to visit their students' new second semester classes, meet the teachers and become familiar with the many and varied programs at Minnechaug.

EBAY DAY AT THE POST OFFICE
On Jan. 30 from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Wilbraham Post Office, learn how to buy and sell on eBay. This free service is provided by the Wilbraham Post Office. Refreshments will be served.
