SPRING SPORTS REGISTRATIONS
The East Longmeadow Rec. Dept. announces the registrations for baseball, girls softball, in town and Pioneer Valley soccer, boys and girls lacrosse are now being taken in the office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mon. to Fri. SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB
Will celebrate 50th wedding anniversaries with entertainer Brian Gillie at their Valentine's Party on Feb. 10 at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. Noon luncheon is roast pork with stuffing, mashed potato, butternut squash, apple/cinnamon muffin and applesauce. BINGO PARTY

MARCH DAY TRIPS
The East Longmeadow Senior Center is sponsoring two day trips in March. Payments for both trips are due by Feb. 11. AARP TAX ASSISTANCE
AARP Tax Aide counselors have begun income tax processing for low-to moderate-income seniors at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St., on Mondays through April 11. Due to space limitations and a shortage of AARP tax preparers we will give priority to East Longmeadow residents. LEMON PIE, SANDWICH FUNDRAISER
The Friendship Club will be hosting a lemon pie and sandwich luncheon on March 10, offering a choice of ham, tuna, or egg salad. WATER BACTERIA REPORTED
The Longmeadow Water Department reports that total coliform bacteria were detected during our routine water quality sampling in January. Out of the 20 samples taken two tested positive. No E. coli bacteria were detected in any of the samples. This is not an emergency. If it had been, residents would have been notified immediately. We believe that a combination of temporary conditions such as the water main replacement projects on Birch Road and Barclay Street contributed to the total coliform detections, when materials were dislodged from the pipes and chlorine residuals were reduced. The area affected was along the south side of town. We have flushed and retested the water in the affected area and no bacteria were found and further testing shows that this problem has been resolved. Some residents may smell and taste a trace of chlorine which is normal for others part of the distribution system. For more info., contact the Longmeadow Department of Public Works at 567-3400.

MOVIE AFTERNOON — SECRETARIAT
At the Longmeadow Adult Center, Feb. 17 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. "Secretariat" is the true story of Big Red/Secretariat who, in 1973, became the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years, winning the Belmont Stakes by a record-shattering 31 lengths. The outstanding cast is headed by Diane Lane, who plays owner Penny Chenery, and John Malkovich, who plays the trainer Lucien Laurin. The story is inspirational, and the racing footage is spectacular.

JOURNEY TO JAZZ: LIONEL HAMPTON
At the Longmeadow Adult Center Feb. 22 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Lionel Hampton's super charged energies and blazing talents catapulted him to stardom, mainly as an exciting vibraphonist, as well as a flashy drummer and pianist and an occasional vocalist. This "Flying Home" disk from 1942-45 includes Illinois Jacquet, Arnette Cobb, Milt Buckner, Marshal Royal, and Dinah Washington, all of whom were budding young jazz stars at that time.

The Forest Park winter farmers' market will take place Feb. 12 and 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Forest Park's old monkey house.
