LADIES NIGHT OUT
Ladies Nite Out at the E.L. Public Library is back by popular demand Jan. 25, 7 - 10 p.m. in the library's community room. ANNUAL 50s DANCE
E.L. Firefighters' Association 27th Annual 50's dance will take place Feb. 2. Doors open at 7 p.m. Dancing 8 p.m. - midnight. Greek Orthodox Church, 400 Prospect St. D. J. Don Blanchard Music from the 50"s to the present. Tickets available from any firefighter, at the fire station or at the door.

SPRING SOCCER
The E.L. Rec. Dept. reminds parents who wish to register their child for Pioneer Valley Spring Soccer that the deadline is Feb. 1. Teams for the spring will be determined upon the number of registrants the Rec. Dept. receives by 4 p.m. on Feb. 1.

SPRING SPORTS REGISTRATIONS
The E.L. Rec. Dept. announces the following spring sports registrations are now being taken in the Office. Come into the Rec. Dept., Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. to register: P.V. Soccer, Intown Soccer, Boys Lacrosee, Girls Lacrosse, Baseball, Girls Softball, Competitive Swim. For more info, call 525-5437.

STROKE & TURN CLINIC
The E.L. Rec. Dept. announces that registrations for the Stroke & Turn Clinic for those presently on the Marlins Swim Team and those who swam last summer are taking place. This program begins March 3 and runs for six weeks on Mon./Wed. from 5 - 6:30 p.m. at E.L.H.S. Space is limited to 40. Waiting list will be taken for slots that may open up. Come into the Rec. Dept., Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. to register.

GREATER SPRINGFIELD
MONSON TRAVEL CLUB
The Monson Travel Club is sponsoring a three-day trip to Washington, D.C., at cherry blossom time April 1 - 3. Cost includes round trip transportation, a full day of sightseeing (guided tour with a box lunch) and an evening illumination tour, plus two breakfasts and dinners. The coach will depart from St. Patrick's parking lot in back of Columbia Hall at 7:30 a.m. Sign up as soon as possible as space is limited. PRO WRESTLING EVENT
Pin your favorite friend and bring him/her down to the Westfield Royal Order of the Moose Lodge Feb. 24 from 2 - 5 p.m. for pro-wrestling. This event is sponsored by the Westfield Moose Lodge, located at 56 Washington St., Westfield, with proceeds benefiting the Regional Animal Shelter Renovation Project Inc. Tickets are $12 each and are available at Westfield Home & Garden located on Route 20. Refreshments will be available for purchase at the event.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
St. Joan of Arc-St. George School will kick off Catholic Schools Week with an open house on Jan. 27 from 10 a.m. - noon. All families, parishioners and alumni are invited to tour the school, meet the staff and enjoy coffee and donuts. Registration info for families interested in registering their child(ren), pre-kindergarten - grade eight for Sept. 2008 will be available. Pre-K families are encouraged to register early. PANCAKE BREAKFAST
The Hampden Lions Club will host a Pancake Breakfast on Superbowl Sunday, Feb. 3, at the Hampden Country Club, 8 a.m. - noon. The admission is $5 for adults, children under 12 are free. Hampden Country Club is located at 128 Wilbraham Road in Hampden.

CABLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The next meeting of the Cable Advisory Committee is Jan. 29 in the School Committee Meeting room at Longmeadow High School, if available; otherwise in the studio of Longmeadow Community Television, also at Longmeadow High School. Please post this notice as required.

TWO TODDLER PLAYGROUP SERIES
The Storrs Library invites toddlers between the ages of six and 30 months to bring their parents along and take advantage of our 10-week series of programs for younger children. The library will be offering this series to encourage your child's growth and development. Longmeadow parents are welcome to register for either the Monday or the Friday series. The Monday Playgroup runs Feb. 4 - April 7 and the Friday Playgroup runs Feb. 1 - April 4, both from 10 - 11 a.m.

BASEBALL REGISTRATION
Please disregard any other published registration dates in the Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Brochure or elsewhere. The correct dates are Jan. 30, 7 - 8:30 p.m., Feb. 9, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., Feb. 26, 7 - 8:30 p.m. and March 1, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

AFTER SCHOOL THEATRE PROGRAM
Grades 4 - 8. Jamie Cass offers this unique drama club as an after school program through the Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept. Cass will teach participants a variety of theatrical activities but the central emphasis will be a two-night performance of the comedy "Fifteen Reasons Not to Do a Play." The performance will take place at the Longmeadow Community House in April. Program will meet on Thursdays and Fridays from Jan. 24 - April 4 from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Thursday classes will be held at the Old Town Hall and Friday classes will be held at the Longmeadow Community House. KARATE - SHOTOKAN STYLE
For adults and children. Shotokan Karate- Do International Federation (SKIF System) includes an international standardized syllabus of stretching, kihon (basic), Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring). Students train in the basic excersices involving punching, blocking, kicking, stances, forms, sparring and self-defense. This class is open to all ages and levels and strengthens the relationships and competencies in children, adults and families. Members may sign up to attend either the youth classes on Tuesdays or the Adult classes on Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays combined with the Adult and Child Class on Thursdays. AMERICAN GIRL WORKSHOP
Come to our Valentine's Craft and Tea Party if you are a fan of the American Girl dolls and books or would like to learn about them. There will be time to sew and design a heart shaped pillow and decorate a beautiful jewelry box with Victorian pictures, shells, beads and gems. At the end of the workshop, participants will have a traditional tea party complete with china cups and teacakes. American Girl books, clothing and accessories will be for sale at discounted prices. LONGMEADOW GIRLS SOFTBALL
The 2008 softball season will bring some additional changes to the game that will make it even more exciting and competitive. Girls in grades 1 - 9 are eligible to play in this spring league, which runs from April - June. Practices are one to two times per week and generally, there are one to two games a week as well. Registration dates: Feb. 2, 9 - 11 a.m. and Feb. 28, 7 - 9 p.m. at the Longmeadow Community House.

BOYS LACROSSE ASSOCIATION
Boys in grades 3 - 8 are invited to participate. Practices are instructional and competitive games are scheduled with other youth lacrosse programs in Western Mass. and Connecticut. The program runs from March - June. Practices/games will be scheduled three to four nights per week plus some weekends. All participants must furnish their sticks and the program requires mandatory helmets and gloves. A limited supply of helmets and gloves may be rented through Parks & Rec. Parent volunteers are welcome. Registration will be Feb. 22, 6 - 8 p.m. at the Longmeadow Community House.

LONGMEADOW LITTLE LEAGUE ASSC.
For boys and girls ages 5 - 12. This in- town program offers an opportunity to learn baseball skills while having fun. Everyone makes a team and all games during regular season are played in town. Each player receives a major league replica jersey and cap to keep. Additional information can be found online at www.eteamz.com/longmeadowll. AMERICAN GIRL WORKSHOP
Learn all about the latest historical doll, Julie Albright, while sewing and decorating a fabric purse using jean material and felt flowers. We will also have time to enjoy refreshments and play American Girl games. At the end of the program, there will be time to purchase some American Girl books, clothing and accessories at discounted prices. Bring a favorite doll with you if like! A SPECIAL DAY WITH MOM OR DAD
Ages 6 - 9. Come celebrate the winter season at the new Longmeadow Art Festival. Come for a snack and stay for crafts. There will be stations for fuse beads, sand art, fingerprints, crown making and fabric crafts. Crafts are planned for child and parents. SNOWMAN BUILDING CONTEST
Weather permitting. Ages 4 - 8. Longmeadow Parks & Rec. will be hosting the first Snowman Building Contest! You provide the energy, attire and creativity; we will provide the hot chocolate and prizes! Prizes will be awarded for most creative, largest and most original snowman. Parent participation is required! Contest will be Feb. 16 on the Green in front of the Longmeadow Community House, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. This is a free event.

PARENT & CHILD SPORT NIGHT
Ages 5 - 7. Calling all kids! It is time to get your parents in shape! For four weeks we will play a different sport tee-ball, basketball, kickball and soccer. Adult participation is required! Sport Night will meet Wednesday nights Feb. 6 - 27 from 5:45 - 7 p.m. in the Greenwood Children's Center Gym. Register online at www.LPRD.net or at the Longmeadow Community House.

LETS DANCE
Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept. will be hosting the annual Father Daughter Dance. What a great opportunity to share a special night with Dad, Grandpa or that special man in your life! DANCE & MOVEMENT
For preschoolers ages 2.9 - 5 and Dance, Movement and Tap for preschoolers ages 3.9 - 5. Tip toe through this introductory fun, educational dance experience. Children will learn ballet, jazz and tumbling technique while singing and dancing with these exciting classes. Performances for parents and family members will be the last lesson of every other month to showcase progress. Children should wear a leotard, tights and leather ballet slippers. DISCOUNTED FALCONS TICKETS
The Longmeadow Parks & Rec. Dept. is pleased to announce discounted $11 vouchers for all ages for Springfield Falcons games during the 2007-08 season. TEEN CENTER
Youths in grades 6 - 8 and their guests are welcome to come and enjoy a supervised evening out on Fridays from 7 - 10 p.m. at the Greenwood Center. All students must sign in prior to entry. School dress codes are strictly followed. Teen Center is run and staffed by area college students. Parent information packets are available on site at each teen center event. GREENWOOD PRESCHOOL SPOTS AVAILABLE
The Greenwood Children's Center on Maple Road is currently accepting enrollment in their preschool program. Choose full or part time care for your three year old in our EEC Licensed, loving, nurturing program. The Center is open 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. weekdays to meet your child care needs and boasts integrated themes and kindergarten readiness skills for your rapidly developing youngster. STORYTELLERS MOVE
The Springfield Storytellers Association has moved to the Unitarian-Universalist Meetinghouse, 245 Porter Lake Dr. They are open to the pubic and there is no charge to attendees. For more info contact Doug at 733-9815.

UNDERSTANDING WINE COURSE
The Center for Business and Technology at STCC announced they will offer a wine appreciation course that will provide participants with a detailed introduction to the wines of Europe, Australia and the Americas through guided tastings of more than 80 wines. Taught by Gary Sandman, a local wine expert, the course will cover all major varieties of wine. In addition to tasting, discussion will include matching wine with food, how and why to store wine, the effects of aging and what makes great wine great. This course begins soon and interested individuals should contact the center at 755-4225 or 755-4501 to enroll or request a copy of the latest detailed brochure.

FITNESS PROGRAM
The Department of Elder Affairs will offer a special fitness program at the Springfield Boys Club on Thursdays. There will be a walk/strength training class at 9:15 a.m. and water exercise class at 12:45 p.m. Call Kerry at 787-6155 for additional info.

KNITTERS
The Hungry Hill Center knitters will once again be making mittens, hats and scarfs to be donated to the schools in their neighborhood. The center supplies the yarn. This group meets each Tuesday at 10 a.m. Instruction is available; just stop in and join in the fun. If you are interested in knitting at home, call the center at 733-9411.

PARADE COMMITTEE BALL
The Springfield St. Patrick's Parade Committee Awards Presentation and Coronation Ball will be Feb. 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the Log Cabin. Join in acknowledging Tom Shea, the parade marshall, along with Brian Mulvagh the John and Agnes Burke Award, Eric and Jen Devine the Paul Caron Award and Ed Noonan the Appreciation Award recipients. Prime rib dinner and Irish entertainment. Tickets can be purchased at the Hungry Hill Center, from any committee member or by calling Nancy Lefebvre at 593-5818.

WOODWORKING WORKSHOPS
The Center for Business and Technology at STCC announced it will again offer woodworking courses in conjunction with the New England School of Architectural Woodworking (NESAW). All class meetings are held at the NESAW studios in Easthampton. Courses available this term include Woodworking I, Woodworking II, Sofa Table, Veneering, and Router and Router Table Techniques. BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS
Chicopee Visiting Nurse Association's health screening has been rescheduled to Jan. 28 from 9 - 11 a.m. at the Hungry Hill Center. Cholesterol screening, which requires fasting, along with blood pressure readings will be offered. This is a free service to area seniors.
