AGAWAM MEATLOAF DINNER Feeding Hills Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, will host a meatloaf dinner on Feb. 2 from 4:30 - 7 p.m. The church is located at 21 North Westfield St. Dinner will consist of tossed green salad, meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable du jour, Italian bread and butter, beverage and dessert. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages five - 12 and free for children four and under. No tickets required; dinner guests pay at the door. For reservations call 786-5061.
VALENTINE DINNER SOLD OUT! The Friends of the Agawam Senior Center's Valentine Surf and Turf dinner on Feb. 15 at the senior center is sold out. The Friends will have their next dinner on March 7 at 5:30 p.m. The dinner will take place at the senior center and corned beef and cabbage will be served. Local entertainment will also be provided by the Good Acoustic group, which includes Mike Smith, Bill Desanty and Dave Fazio. They will be performing classic acoustic favorites and local hits. Tickets will be on sale soon.
CHICOPEE "LIVING AGAIN" A support group to help those who have suffered the loss of a loved one, no matter when, will take place Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Chicopee Council on Aging, 7 Valley View Ct. DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP The next meeting will be on Feb. 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. Diane Weston, R.N. will provide information on ways to manage your diabetes, help you with your diet plan, provide instruction on the use of a glucometer, information on research and new developments and answer questions you may have. CENTER COMPUTER CLASSES There are openings in the intermediate computer class at 1 p.m. starting Feb. 15 and continuing for four weeks. Classes are held in the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. Interested persons should call the senior center immediately. Fee must be paid one week in advance. Interested persons who would like to take classes in the future should call to have their names put on the list. LENTEN SERVICES Faith United Methodist Church, 191 Montcalm St., welcomes New Hope and South Hadley Methodist churches for Lenten Services. The Rev. Louise J. Dumas and Rev. Linda M. Peabody will preside over the services. All are welcome. Ash Wednesday Service Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.; Maundry Thursday Service Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.; and Good Friday Service Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. Easter Services at Faith United Methodist Church, March 23 at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. service. PANCAKE BREAKFAST Faith United Methodist Church, 191 Montcalm St. will host a pancake breakfast Feb. 2, 8 - 10 a.m. Eat in or take out is available. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. Also available: omelet station. The public is invited. Give your Valentine an early gift. We are handicapped accessible.
GRANBY ICE CREAM SOCIAL The Friends of Granby will sponsor a Valentine Ice Cream Social on Feb. 14 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church hall from 1:30 - 3 p.m. A demonstration of town and local memorabilia will be presented by the Granby Historical Association. GREATER SPRINGFIELD SWINGLES SQUARE DANCE CLUB The Swingles Square Dance Club will hold a mainstream "Sadie Hawkens" dance on Feb. 1. We will host a class dance "Pizza Party" on Feb. 15. We will host a mainstream all singing call on Feb. 29. CAR CAMPAIGN The Boys and Girls Clubs in Massachusetts are running a car campaign to support their programs. The clubs are asking people with unwanted cars to remember them. Boys and Girls Clubs will now accept most any car, with no restrictions. Cars will be sold at auction and the proceeds will be used to help the local clubs. A call to 800-246-0493 will get the process underway. The number can be called at any time.
ST. ROSE DE LIMA TRIP Join the seniors of St. Rose de Lima on March 27 as they travel to Parker's Maple Barn in Mason, N.H., for breakfast. There will be time for shopping followed by dinner at Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley, Mass. For more info call 533-9282.

HARLEM GOSPEL CHOIR The renowned Harlem Gospel Choir will perform at Amherst College's Buckley Recital Hall in the Arms Music Building on Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. The concert, which is free and open to the public, is part of the college's celebration of the life of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
PIONEER VALLEY STAMP CLUB The Pioneer Valley Stamp Club will meet on Feb. 12 and 26 at the First United Church of Christ on Rte. 5 across from the Community Center. SOUTH HADLEY CHURCH DINNER The Congregational Church of South Hadley Falls will be hosting a dinner on Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. Menu: sweet and sour soup, spring rolls with duck sauce, pork fried rice, Asian-style chicken wings, beef teriyaki, chilled pineapple with fortune cookies; coffee, tea, milk and juice. ENHANCE CAREER TRAINING With the goal of enhancing career training opportunities for area business professionals, the Center for Business and Technology at STCC has partnered with the Employer's Association of the NorthEast (EANE) of Agawam, and will conduct a variety of workshops and seminars at the college during the next few months. Programs available during the upcoming term include: All Stressed Up.and no Place to Go, Customer Service Excellence and Time Management for Support Staff. PERSONAL TRAINER CERTIFICATION ABCNews.com ranks personal training as the fourth hottest job in the country at a national average salary of $25 an hour. The Center for Business and Technology (CBT) at STCC has partnered with the World Instructor Training Schools (WITS) to offer this program that prepares individuals for careers in this exciting field and for national certification as personal trainers. This challenging program will be taught over a five-week period and will include coverage of anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, health screening, etc. Afternoons will be spent at an area gym providing practical "hands on" training that prepares participants to work with clients. ITALIAN CLASSES The Italian Cultural Center is sponsoring Italian Language Classes for Beginners I, II and Intermediate Levels beginning March 4. Classes are taught at 56 Margaret St. Parking in Mt. Carmel Church and School parking lot. Classes are eight weeks in duration from 6 - 8 p.m. There is a registration fee. WESTFIELD KIDS FAIR Mark your calendars for March 15 for fun and games at the Westfield Boys and Girls club located at 28 Silver St. The Regional Animal Shelter Renovation Project Inc. will be hosting a fun filled day for kids with proceeds going build a No-Kill, Regional Animal Shelter. The event will include a bounce house, games with prizes, face painting and a create-a-craft table as well as Shriner's Clowns. Refresements will be available for purchase and there will be a bake sale.
CONVERSATIONAL ITALIAN CLASS The Community Education office at Westfield State College is offering a Conversational Italian class from Feb. 4 - March 10 on Mondays from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. This beginner level Italian class is designed to introduce you to the Italian language. NO-KILL ANIMAL SHELTER MEETING The Animal Shelter Renovation Project Inc. will be having a meeting Feb. 12 at the Moose Lodge, 56 Washington St., at 6:30 p.m. We are asking anyone and everyone interested in becoming a volunteer to help build a No-Kill Regional Animal Shelter to please attend this meeting. We have a Pro-Wrestling Match, an Art Auction and a Kids Fair planned as fundraisers and are looking for help.
WESTFIELD ATHENAEUM Jacqueline Sears, a local historian and preservationist, is seeking funds to restore the Westfield Athenaeum. To celebrate this magnificent institutions's 140th birthday we ask you to express what the Athenaeum has meant to you. Has it made a difference in your life? WEST SPRINGFIELD "TROPICAL SUNDAY" SERVICE Grace Lutheran Church on Route 20 will host the 10th annual "Tropical Sunday" on Feb. 3 at the 9:30 a.m. service. Congregation members are encouraged to wear "cruise fashions" and bake tropical desserts for the coffee hour that follows the service. The temperature will be turned up and the hymns will include rhythms with conga drums, maracas and castenets. All are welcome.
