COPING WITH MEMORY LOSS

ZITI AND MEATBALL DINNER
The East Longmeadow Firefighters Association will host a ziti and meatball dinner on May 21 at St. Michaels Community Center, 53 Somers Road. Serving: 5 to 7 p.m. Cost: $8 for adults; kids age 5 to 8 are $6. Cash bar for beer and wine. Tickets are available at the Fire Department, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

AUTHOR TALK
Local author Judith Kappenman will talk about her recently published "To Dakota and back: the Story of an Orphan Train Rider" at the East Longmeadow Public Library, 60 Center Square, on May 10 at 7 p.m. This program is free and all are invited. TAG SALE
The East Longmeadow United Methodist youth will take anything (no clothing) that can sell at a tag sale. All merchandise should be placed neatly in the rear of the Social Hall, 215 Somers Road. Donations need to arrive by May 13. The tag sale will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 14.

FREE HEALTH CLINIC
Pioneer Valley Free Health Services, a clinic for those who are uninsured or under insured, is open on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and located at 281 Maple St. There is no charge but donations are accepted. All medical professionals and clerical workers donate their time.

GREATER SPRINGFIELD
PANCAKE BREAKFAST
St. Joseph's Residence, 1365 Enfield St., Enfield, Conn., will have a Pancake Breakfast and Bake Sale Fund-raiser May 21 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost: $7 for adults and $3 for kids. Proceeds will contribute to the residents' efforts to help the San Damiano Youth Group, of St. Stanislaus' Cathedral, Chicopee, to attend The World Youth Event in Madrid.

OPEN MIC NIGHT
Open Mic will take place each Wednesday during June at Luthier's Co-op, 108 Cottage St., Easthampton. Sign-up is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Bring your own food and beverage. Free coffee and WiFi available. Suggested donation: $5.

ITALIAN HISTORY CLUB

The call for chefs has officially gone out for the Girl Scouts "Fork It Over" culinary event on June 21 at Storrowton Tavern Carriage House in West Springfield. Space is limited. HEALTH FAIR
The Town of Hampden is having a Health Fair on May 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hampden Senior Center, 104 Allen St.

PRESCRIPTION ADVANTAGE
The Hampden Senior Center Speaker's Bureau will continue on May 17 at 12:15 p.m. — Prescription Advantage with Kathy Campbell from the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. Learn how Prescription Advantage can help to fill the gap in your Medicare prescription drug coverage.

ELDER LAW
The Hampden Senior Center Speaker's Bureau will continue at 12:15 p.m. on May 24. Attorney Todd Ratner will discuss the basics of estate planning documents, demystifying probate and ways to avoid it and long-term care financing.

HAMPDEN MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
Join the Hampden Memorial Day Parade. Gather at St. Mary's Church at 9:30 a.m. if you are marching. Come and honor all those we have lost on this very special day. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and will travel from St. Mary's Church down Main Street to Monument Park.

LONGMEADOW
HISTORIC COMMISSION MEETING
The Longmeadow Historic District Commission will meet May 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Fire Station at 7:30 p.m.

FREE NORDIC WALKING SEMINAR
Free Nordic Walking Seminar will take place at the Longmeadow Adult Center on May 20 from 10 to 11 a.m. Learn why walking with poles is a popular activity. Great for any fitness level. Classes will begin in June, and equipment will be provided by the instructor for use during the class. Sign up at 565-4150.

PERSONAL TRAINING
The Longmeadow Adult Center will host Personal Training Introduction May 23 at 12:30 p.m. Gail Shapiro, a personal trainer with over 20 years of experience, will talk about a new personal training program which will begin in June. JOURNEY TO JAZZ
The Longmeadow Adult Center will host Journey to Jazz: Longmeadow's own Jane Sheckter on May 24 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Backed by a five piece band on her second album "Double Standards," Jane Sheckter brings her warm, liquid, satiny voice to 16 more of her favorite songs by the great popular composers.

STUDENT RECORDS
Longmeadow School Department, Office of Pupil Services, will be destroying special education records for students born in or before 1989. If you are interested in obtaining the file(s), call 565-4210, ext 29 or 30 to schedule an appointment to pick up the file(s). We will not mail them. These records will be destroyed after June 23.

ST. ANDREW'S YARD SALE

A free movie afternoon of "The King's Speech" will take place on May 19 at the Longmeadow Adult Center from 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. The Best Picture of 2010 includes a cast with Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter.

COOKING CLASS
Life Lessons, The William & Margery Sadowsky Center of Adult Learning at the Springfield Jewish Community Center (JCC) is offering a cooking class at What's Cooking D, 41 Maple St., East Longmeadow on May 10 at 6:30 p.m. Cost: $50 for JCC members and $60 for the general public. BRIDGE OF HOPE THRIFT SHOP
The Bridge of Hope Thrift Shop is getting a facelift. The shop will be closed on May 18 and will re-open on May 19 with a new look. Most items are priced at just $2 per piece with all proceeds used to support The Community Survival Center's programs. The shop is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

OUR SISTERS WALK & RUN
The second annual Our Sisters Walk & Run 5K race to benefit the Jimmy Fund will take place May 22 at Forest Park. CHOLESTEROL SCREENING
Cholesterol screening and blood pressure readings will be offered at the Hungry Hill Center, 1212 Carew St., on May 16 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. This free service is sponsored by the Chicopee Visiting Nurse Association.

NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL MEETING
There will be a meeting of the Hungry Hill Neighborhood Council on May 19 at 7 p.m. Representatives from the Police Department and the Mayor's Office will be at this meeting to discuss crime statistics, safety suggestions, ordinance violations, etc. All residents are encouraged to attend, light refreshments will be served.

TASTE OF DUGGAN AND MORE
The Taste of Duggan and More is hosting its community fair on June 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will be a fun filled day of activities, games, pony rides, tag sale booths and health and community resources for all. SPRING CONCERT
On May 18 at 2:30 p.m., the members of the Wilbraham Women's Club Choral Group will present their spring concert at Keystone Woods, 936 Grayson Drive, Springfield. On May 19 they will sing at First Park Memorial Church, Garfield St., Springfield, at 1 p.m.

SENIOR CENTER FUND-RAISER
The Wilbraham Women's Club Choral Group will provide the entertainment for a fund-raiser for a new senior center. There will be a pasta luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on May 13 at the Wilbraham Senior Center on Boston Road. The concert is at 1 p.m.

"LOOP YEAR"
The Friends of the Library will welcome author John Sheirer on May 24 at 7 p.m. to discuss his memoir "Loop Year: 365 Days of the Trail." This event is free for students and members of the Friends.
