EAST LONGMEADOW
BALLROOM DANCE LESSONS
A new eight-week session of Beginner/Intermediate Ballroom Dance lessons will begin at the Pleasant View Senior Center on Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. Dances taught will be the waltz and the samba. Cost is $100 per couple, $50 per single, with a $5 discount for seniors. Please wear leather soled or felt bottom shoes no sneakers or rubber soles advised. Sign up in the Rec. Dept., 525-5437.

FUNDRAISER
Yoga tools for teachers, parents and day care providers or anyone that likes to work with children. Nov. 14, 7:30 - 9 p.m. at Heartsong Yoga Center, 264 N. Main St. Condo East. Cost is $20. Pre-registration is best, contact 525- 0720. Walk ins are also welcome.

THANKSGIVING SERVICE
E.L. churches to hold Ecumenical Thanksgiving service sponsored by seven local churches: Faith Tabernacle Community Bible, First Congregational UCC, St. Luke's Greek Orthodox, St. Mark's Episcopal, St. Michael's Roman Catholic, St. Paul's Lutheran and the United Methodist. Come join your neighbors for music by Church Choirs, Praise and Thanks, A time of Sharing and a Time of Prayer. Nov. 18, 7 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle, 11 Kibbe Rd. There will also be a collection of non-perishable food for baskets to be distributed to the less fortunate.

GARDEN CLUB
The E.L. Garden Club's Beautification Committee will be arranging evergreens in the planters at Center Square on Nov. 14. On Nov. 15, Larry Lirot will lead a workshop for a Holiday wreath (reservations required) in Fellowship Hall of the Congregational Church on the rotary. On Nov. 26 the Beautification Committee will be making evergreen swags for the lamps posts at Center Square. For more information call Nancy Heath at 262-5164 .

GENEALOGY AND THE INTERNET
Have you ever wondered how to use the internet to trace your family's genealogy? The Friends of the E.L. Public Library will sponsor a program on this topic by Genealogy expert, George Kingston. It will be held Nov. 26, 6 - 8 p.m. in the library Community Room. The program is free to the public. Registration is required. To register stop by the Circulation Desk or call the library at 525-5400 x 152.

BASKETBALL EVALUATIONS
The E.L. Rec. Dept. reminder basketball evaluations will be held Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. for 1st/2nd grade boys at Meadowbrook. Child should wear sneakers, shorts, shirt. Parents' meeting at 6:15 p.m.

WOMENS AEROBICS
The E.L. Rec. Dept. is presently registering for Women's Aerobics for classes to begin the week of Nov. 19. Classes are M/W 6 p.m. or T/Th 5 or 6 p.m. Fee is $35 for res., $50 for non-res (Srs. 60 & older, $5 discount). Come into the office, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

SENIOR CENTER RE-OPENING
The Pleasant View Senior Center will officially re-open for general use on Nov. 19. Special events scheduled earlier in the month will still be held, but normal day-to-day activities and programs should adhere to their current relocation sites unless specifically notified by the activities coordinator. If you have any questions regarding your program location, please call the Senior Center @ 525-5436.

FOOTCARE APPOINTMENTS
The appointments for Footcare/Pediacare scheduled for Nov. 13 and normally held at the Pleasant View Senior Center will once again be held at the American Legion Hall on American Legion Ct. (off of Crane Ave.) in E.L. The nurses will be calling to confirm appointments. Any questions, call the Senior Center @ 525-5436.

SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB
The E.L. Senior Friendship Club will listen to the melodious sounds of The New Good Time Singers on Nov. 15 at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. Luncheon is roasted turkey w/stuffing, mashed potatoes w/gravy, butternut squash and apple crisp for dessert. Call 525-5436 at least one day in advance for noon lunch reservations.

VETERANS DAY LUNCHEON
The E.L. Council on Aging would like to thank our local veterans by honoring them with a luncheon on Nov. 14 with ceremonies beginning at 11 a.m. Luncheon is free for veterans ($1.75 for guests), and will be held at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. The menu will be chicken w/sage stuffing, tossed salad w/rolls & butter, mashed potato, green beans and dessert. Seating is limited, so please call the Senior Center early for reservations @ 525-5436.

FLU CLINIC
Our flu clinic has been scheduled for Nov. 27 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. on a walk-in basis. This year's vaccine will be given to E.L. seniors and residents with general health problems. Those who are allergic to eggs should not take the vaccine. There will be no make-up date this year, please call the nurse @ 525-5436 if you need an alternative date for your flu shot.

TAX EDUCATION SEMINAR
H&R Block will be providing a free service to the community on Nov. 28 @ 10 a.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center. You will get the latest information for managing your 2007 tax liability who needs to file a tax return, how much you can earn before your social security benefits are impacted, how to report gambling winnings/losses, retirement plan considerations, sale of investments. Receive answers to your most pressing questions during this timely seminar.

HEALTH PLAN OPTIONS FOR PEOPLE WITH MEDICARE
A presentation will be offered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of MA on Nov. 28 @ 1:30 p.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center. It will include an explanation of Medicare, including the new Medicare Part D drug benefit. It will also show how Medigap plans and Medicare Advantage plans work with Medicare. All are welcome regardless of insurance coverage. A question and answer session will follow.

PITCH
By popular demand, pitch is now being held weekly at Inward Commons on Mondays. Play starts at 12:30 p.m.

DEMOCRATIC TOWN COMMITTEE
The committee will hold its next meeting Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Fire Station on Somers Road. This meeting is open to all members, both Democrats and unenrolled. New members are always welcome. The agenda for the upcoming year will be discussed.

GREATER SPRINGFIELD
A SIMPLE LULLABY
The Hartsbrook School in Hadley presents "A Simple Lullaby," Wednesdays, Nov. 14 - Dec. 19, 9 - 11 a.m. 94 Bay Rd., Hadley. Taught by Jacqueline Auwaerter, participants will share ideas; allow ourselves to be child-like and lulled; learn and compose lullabies; and do some sleep related crafts. The cost is $80 for the course, or $20 per class. 10 YEAR REUNION
The 10 year reunion for the Minnechaug Regional High School class of 1997 will be Nov. 24 at the Country Club of Wilbraham. REPUBLICAN TOWN COMMITTEE
The Longmeadow Republican Town Committee will hold its regular monthly
meeting Nov. 14 at the Old Town Hall (formerly the VFW Post) located at 417 Longmeadow St. (directly across from Rinaldi's). The meeting will start promptly at 7:30. The meeting will feature a speaker in addition to reports and consideration of several Town Committee initiatives. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited. GREENWOOD FOOD DRIVE
Greenwood Extended Day's Before and After Kindergarten is hosting a food drive for the Springfield Rescue Mission. We are in need of canned goods, stuffing mix and turkeys. We will also be accepting Big Y coins and gift certificates to benefit the Springfield Rescue Mission. Donations may be dropped off at Greenwood Children's Center, 231 Maple Rd. between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. until Nov. 19.

BOARD OF ASSESSORS MEETING
Board of Assessors meeting Nov. 27 at 8:30 a.m. at the Police Station Community Room. Public comments will only be heard from 8:30 - 8:45 a.m.

RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL "CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR"
Christmas isn't truly here until you have a chance to visit Radio City Music Hall and see the Christmas Spectacular. New acts have been added to the show this season along with the traditional favorites such as the March of the Wooden Soldier and the Live Nativity Scene. Our seats are located in the Orchestra Section for the 5 p.m. show. There is time prior to the show to enjoy the sites and sounds of the holiday season in New York City. GETTING PAID TO TALK
Have you ever been told that you have a great voice? If the answer is yes, this class is the perfect beginning for you to explore numerous aspects of voice acting work for television, film, radio, books on tape, documentaries and the Internet. Instruction will be provided in how to prepare for the all-important demo and how to be successful and earn money just be talking. TEEN CENTER
Youths in grades 6 - 8 and their guests are welcome to come and enjoy a "supervised evening out" on Fridays from 7 - 10 p.m. at the Greenwood Center. Admission is $7 per person. All students must sign in prior to entry. School dress codes are strictly followed. Teen Center is run and staffed by area college students. ANNUAL THANKSGIVING MEAL
Open Pantry Community Services, Inc. will be hosting its annual Thanksgiving Meal on Nov. 22 at the High School of Commerce, 415 State St. Doors will open at 11 a.m. and the meal will be served at noon. Volunteers are needed to help prepare food, serve dinner, and deliver meals to people who are elderly, infirm or physically challenged in Springfield. If you are elderly, infirm or physically challenged and live in Springfield and you would like a meal to be delivered call 737-5337. Volunteers should call 737-5337 also. Contributions of desserts and fruit will be greatly appreciated. Food items may be dropped off at Commerce High School after 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving. NURSE VISIT
Chicopee Visiting Nurse Association will have a nurse at the Hungry Hill Center on Nov. 19 from 9 - 11 a.m. Hemoglobin screening, along with blood pressure readings will be offered. This is a free service to area seniors.

HUNGRY HILL NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL MEETING
There will be a meeting of the Hungry Hill Neighborhood Council on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Hungry Hill Center, lower level of Our Lady of Hope Church. Representatives from Western Mass. Electric will discuss upcoming construction plans, there will be a discussion regarding the development of 31 single family homes in the Doyle Ave./Nordica St. area and police officers from the North Sector will also be at this meetin to discuss neighborhood concerns. Refreshments will be served.
