EAST LONGMEADOW PERSONAL TRAINING CERTIFICATION Century Fitness located at 491 No. Main St. is offering the AFAA Personal Training Certification Jan. 25-27. The three-day workshop includes lectures on nutrition wellness, exercise, physiology, fitness testing, injury prevention and more. WREATH & POINSETTIA E.L. Boy Scout Troop 275 will be holding their annual Christmas Wreath and Poinsettia sale on Nov. 30 from 5 - 9 p.m. and Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church located at 181 Elm St. Proceeds from these fundraisers will be used towards various scouting programs including helping to offset the cost for scouts going to summer camp.

BALLROOM DANCERS The E.L. Rec. Dept./COA reminds ballroom dancers that the new session will begin Nov. 26 at Pleasant View. Samba and waltz will be taught this session. Those 60 and older receive a $5 discount. This is an eight week session from 7 - 8 p.m. on Mondays.
BREAKFAST WITH SANTA Dec. 9 , 9 a.m. - noon. St. Michael's K of C #9960 and St. Michael's Family Life Committee invite you to their fourth annual event to be held at the St. Michael's Parish Center on Somers Road. The breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, fruit cup, hot chocolate, coffee and juice. Adults $5, children 5 - 12 $3, and children 4 and younger free. Tickets will be available at the door. Children are reminded to bring their wish lists for Santa, and be sure they include their name and address on the top of their list. There will also be pictures with Santa, as well as arts and crafts for the children.
FLU CLINIC Our flu clinic has been scheduled for Nov. 27 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. on a walk-in basis. This year's vaccine will be given to E.L. seniors and residents with general health problems. Those who are allergic to eggs should not take the vaccine. The E.L. Senior Friendship Club will be having a bake sale during the clinic.
TAX EDUCATION SEMINAR H&R Block will be providing a free service to the community Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center. You will get the latest information for managing your 2007 tax liability who needs to file a tax return, how much you can earn before your social security benefits are impacted, etc. Receive answers to your most pressing questions during this timely seminar.
HEALTH PLAN OPTIONS FOR PEOPLE WITH MEDICARE A presentation will be offered by Blue Cross & Blue Shield on Nov. 28 at 1:30 p.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center. It will include an explanation of Medicare, including the new Medicare Part D drug benefit. It will also show how Medigap plans and Medicare Advantage plans work with Medicare. All are welcome regardless of insurance coverage. A question and answer session will follow.
SENIOR FRIENDSHIP CLUB The E.L. Senior Friendship Club will play Turkey BINGO on Nov. 29 at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. Luncheon is eggplant parmesan, Italian vegetable and mixed fruit for dessert. Call 525-5436 at least one day in advance for noon lunch reservations.
CARING CONVERSATIONS A representative from All About You Professional Home Care will offer a part lecture, part discussion presentation entitled "Caring Conversations" on Dec. 12 at1 p.m. at the Pleasant View Senior Center, 328 North Main St. The goal is to help people learn how to talk to loved ones about difficult topics, such as giving up driving privileges, accepting help or treatment, etc. Free and open to the public.
WALKERS ANNUAL CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON The Morning Glory Walkers Annual Christmas Luncheon will be held Dec. 12 at 11:30 a.m. at the Elmcrest Country Club. Choose from prime rib, stuffed shrimp or Chicken Francaise. Tickets are $10 for paid-up members and $15 for guests. There will be an optional $5 gift exchange. GENEALOGY ON THE INTERNET "Genealogy on the Internet" is the topic of a free seminar by the French-Canadian Genealogical Society of Connecticut at 7 p.m., Dec. 5 in Tolland. The seminar, open to all, will be in the society's research library in the Old County Courthouse, 53 Tolland Green (Route 195), half a mile north of Exit 68 on I-84. Pre-registration is not necessary. The speaker will be Ivan Robinson of Tolland. He will discuss using the Internet to find genealogical info and connect with people researching the same names. HAMPDEN ANNUAL CRAFT BAZAAR The Federated Community Church of Hampden, 490 Main St, will hold its second annual craft bazaar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1. Santa will make a special appearance during the youth groups pancake breakfast, from 8 - 11 a.m. Bring along the family camera. The craft bazaar will feature crafters from around the region, a white elephant tag sale and the Ladies Aid Society Bake sale. Additionally a special gift area will be designated for young children to shop for their parents. BULK DISPOSAL DAY The Town of Hampden will be offering a Bulk Disposal Day at the Transfer Station on Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Residents will be allowed up to five bulk items per collection at a cost of approximately $20 cash only, per item. Air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, TVs and computer monitors are approximately $40 cash only, per item. You must have a Transfer Station Sticker to participate. LONGMEADOW BAY PATH OPEN HOUSE Bay Path College will host an open house for prospective students Dec. 2 (snow date Dec. 9), from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on its Longmeadow campus. Students will be able to tour the campus; learn about Bay Path's more than 30 majors and minors; talk to current students, faculty and staff; and meet with the financial aid staff about the College's generous scholarship program. ELEGANT HOLIDAY CARDS Learn easy folding techniques for creating simple but elegant cards for the holidays known as Iris Paper Folding. This method can be used to make cards for any occasion, either casual or elegant. YOUTH WRESTLING, GRADES 5-8 This program is designed to introduce wrestling to athletes at the youth level. Focus will be on proper techniques, conditioning and fundamentals necessary to enjoy and be successful in the sport of wrestling. Participants will receive complimentary wrestling headgear, but must provide their own wrestling shoes and kneepads. KARATE, SHOTOKAN STYLE Ages 16 and up. Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation (SKIF) system includes an international standardized syllabus of kihon (basics), kata (forms) and kumite (sparring). A white karate uniform is required for class and can be ordered through the instructor. Class is ongoing every two months for adults, but sign ups are welcome anytime.
