AGAWAM CANDLES FOR SALE Friends of the Agawam Senior Center are selling candles made with soy bean no smoke comes from the candles after they are put out. A fast selling candle is the "apple pie" candle with three wicks. Our regular candles have two wicks to burn evenly. Come to the Senior Center to see the candles or call Emile Cote at 335-9940 for a catalog. The holidays are fast approaching and these "Mia Bella Gourmet Candles" will make wonderful gifts.
CRAFT FAIR Friends of the Agawam Senior Center craft fair Nov. 10, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Friends are asking for help with a bake sale at the craft fair. Bring baked goods to the Senior Center on Sat. before 10 a.m. or deliver them to the Senior Center on Nov. 9. Friends want to thank all those who have baked delicious goodies in the past and hope you will continue to help us.
ROAST CHICKEN DINNER Feeding Hills Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, will host a roast chicken dinner Nov. 10, 4:30 - 7 p.m., at 21 North Westfield St. in Feeding Hills Center. Plenty of parking space behind the building. Dinner will consist of tossed green salad, roasted chicken, maple butternut squash, green peas with pearl onions, beverage and a four star dessert. The cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children ages five to 12, and free for children four and under. No tickets required; dinner guests pay at the door. For reservations, call 786-5061. HOLIDAY BAZAAR The Heritage Hall campus annual holiday bazaar will take place on Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. in all five buildings of the campus. Get your holiday shopping done early with over 40 vendors of crafts, jewelry, gift baskets, cosmetics, candles, artwork and much more. XTREME PAINTBALL The second annual Toys for Tots event at Xtreme Paintball will take place Nov. 10. The event offers free admission to anyone bringing a toy worth approximately the price of the normal admission ($15) or a $15 discount on a rental package if you bring a toy. Last year there were 130 players in attendance at the event and over 150 toys were collected. Prizes were given out during a raffle throughout the day as well. CHICOPEE WRITING GROUP A group of friendly people gather informally in the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. on the first and third Friday of each month at 1 p.m. Bring paper, a pen or pencil and a desire to share your ideas, imagination, life experiences or dreams. HEALTHY EATING 101 Learn how to make healthy leftovers from your turkey dinner on Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chicopee Senior Center, 7 Valley View Ct. Violet Suska, health and fitness coordinator, will work with participants to make a soup, salad and dessert using food normally remaining from the traditional holiday meal. The food will be shared by the participants. There is a $1 donation. Space is limited so register by calling 534-3698.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Volunteer drivers are needed to drive Chicopee Council on Aging vehicles to take older adults to medical appointments, for personal business or to come to the Chicopee Senior Center. Volunteers may work any schedule desired. The Council provides transportation between 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. using cars and vans. THANKSGIVING DINNER On Nov. 22 from noon - 2 p.m. the Fairview Knights of Columbus Council 4044 will be hosting their 17th annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner. The dinner is free and is aimed at providing a traditional meal for any person or family that is in need or just lonely. GRANBY SUNDAY LANDFILL OPENING The Granby Landfill will be open to Granby residents with a valid landfill sticker on Nov. 11 and Nov. 25 from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Only the front roll-off area will be open. FLU CLINIC The Granby Board of Health is pleased to announce the annual flu clinic will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Nov. 28. Recipients of the vaccine must fill out an application form to be submitted to Medicare. Applications can be picked up and filled out prior to Nov. 28. Forms are available at Town Hall, Council on Aging, Phin's Hill and the Senior Luncheon site. Residents whose last name begins with A - M will receive the flu shot between 10 a.m. and noon; those whose last name begins with N - Z will receive the shot between 1 and 3 p.m. There is sufficient vaccine so pre-registration will not be necessary.

CHAMBER MUSIC On Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. come to Schubertiad. Spend the afternoon at Wistariahurst mansion, listening to the sublime music of Franz Schubert. The event takes place in the intimate setting of the Belle Skinner Music Room. This third annual Schubertiad, which was an impromptu gathering of Schubert and his friends, will be staged as an historical re-enactment, performed, as in the past, in period costume. AEROBICS CLASS CANCELED As of Nov. 5 the Senior Center will not be running the aerobics class. The Thursday Aerobic will stay the same. We will be starting a new class on Nov. 19; Jazzercise at 9 a.m. for a $1 fee, which will be paid directly to instructor. The seniors wanted to try something new. Silver Foxes and Belles meeting Springfield native David Mindell will perform at the Silver Foxes and Belles meeting Nov. 14. WESTFIELD HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR About 45 exhibitors will offer their crafts for sale at the annual Holiday Craft Fair scheduled for 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Nov. 10, in Scanlon Banquet Hall at Westfield State College. There will be refreshments available for purchase, free face painting for kids and a raffle area. Admission and parking are free and open to the public. Some of the handcrafted items available will include: jewelry, ornaments, vegan baked goods, hair accessories, scarves, hats and mittens, greeting cards, wreaths and floral decorations, photographic art, dog treats, baked holiday treats, wooden furniture, dolls and teddy bears, fleece items, salsas, jams and more.
ART EXHIBITION Artist Sherid Adams will display his digital graphics and paintings at Arno Maris Gallery at Westfield State College Nov. 7 - Dec. 8. An opening reception for the artist is scheduled for 5 - 8 p.m. on Nov. 7. Adams has compared his work to Tarot readings. He believes that, like Tarot cards, each painting is a reading and tells its own story. He can also create paintings based on the numbers of a person's birth date. The influences for Adams' art include such artists as Marcel Duchamp and Jean Arp, leading figures in the Dada art movement that blossomed in Europe in the early 20th century. The gallery, which is in the Ely Campus Center, is open 2 - 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
WEST SPRINGFIELD MISTLETOE HOLIDAY BAZAAR Mittineague Congregational Church at 1840 Westfield St. is having their sixth annual holiday bazaar Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. There will be many creative local craft people and homemade baked goods. Also, there will be the Gingerbread Cafe serving brunch and lunch items.
COIN CLUB The West Springfield Coin Club will meet on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 214 Elm St. A presentation and discussion will include facts about "box" dollars. FREE COMMUNITY BREAKFAST An ecumenical outreach community breakfast is offered the second Saturday of every month at the First United Methodist Church on Main Street from 9 - 10 a.m. Past menus have featured pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, hot tea, coffee, orange juice and a variety of baked goods.
