Chicopee Mayor Michael Bissonnette and Fire Chief Stephen Burkott presided over the ceremony on Thursday recognizing the promotions of two city firefighters to new ranks. Phillip Sanford was promoted to lieutenant and Dean Desmarais was elevated to deputy fire chief.
Bissonnette said, "We expect great things from them ... and look forward to many good years of service from these gentlemen."
