Remembering 9/11/01

Local officials and Springfield residents gathered on Sept. 11 at the Raymond Sullivan Safety Complex to mark the eighth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the nation.

With the Fire Department Honor Guard standing at attention, Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno addressed the audience. Other speakers included Congressman Richard Neal who said the annual ceremony "indicates the city of Springfield has a memory and how important that is." Fitchet said the ceremony was "a gift we owe those who sacrificed."
