Scholarship available to residents of 16 Acres

SPRINGFIELD -- The Colvest Group has taken their commitment to the community and reinforced it with its greatest resource -- the next generation.

Colvest President Frank Colaccino is now offering the Sixteen Acres Civic Association the opportunity to award a resident of Sixteen Acres a scholarship for $10,000 a year for four years to American International College.

The graduating high school senior must meet the following criteria:

• The applicant cannot have applied to American International College within the last year;

• The applicant must meet the entry level grade point average established by American International College;

• and the applicant must be a resident of Sixteen Acres.

Sixteen Acres Civic Association President Clodo Concepcion said that he is pleased with the new scholarship.

"I always ask businesses [in our area] to contribute to the community. [However,] I didn't expect that," Concepcion said.

All requests can be sent to Sixteen Acres Civic Association Inc., 91 Old Acre Rd., Springfield, MA 01129, Attention: Scholarship Committee. Be sure to include your full name and address along with phone number(s), e-mail address and an explanation to why you would be a good candidate. The deadline is Aug. 1.
