WESTFIELD -- Trusting the care of aging loved ones to strangers, even certified medical professionals, can be difficult for some family members but those at Renaissance Manor of Westfield can say for certain their patients are receiving quality care.
The facility is one of 501 assisted living centers in the nation to be named 2010 honorees of American Health Care Association (AHCA) and National Center for Assisted Living's (NCAL) Quality Awards program. Renaissance Manor of Westfield is one of 456 facilities to receive the Bronze Commitment to Quality Award nationwide.
"We at Renaissance Manor of Westfield are extremely proud to have received such a prestigious recognition," Ron Doty, administrator, said. "This accolade is a reflection of our dedicated staff and their commitment to quality care."
He noted the bronze recognition is the "first step in the AHCA's Quality Performance Improvement Program."
"This wonderful recognition underscores our organization's commitment towards sustainable performance excellence and each center's personal dedication to person-centered care and services," Doty said.
"The level of awareness that it takes to ensure that delivery of quality care meets customer expectations is considerable," he added. "This award acknowledges that everyday environments must be consistently scrutinized to ensure that pathways for improvements are followed and are consistently acted upon."
Liz Hassan of the Massachusetts Senior Care Association, which Renaissance Manor of Westfield is a member, noted that 36 of the association's facilities received recognition from the AHCA/NCAL.
Facilities within Massachusetts Senior Care Association received four silver and 32 bronze awards, the third most in the country in that category, she added.
Awards will be presented to facility representatives at the AHCA/NCAL National Conven-tion in Long Beach, Calif., in October.
