WEST SPRINGFIELD — Former West Springfield High School (WSHS) student, recent Westfield State University graduate and candidate for State Representative, 6th Hampden District Lincoln Blackie, "paid it forward" to 16-year-old WSHS student Trayvon Alston on June 8, presenting Alston with funding to attend to a summer conditioning clinic run by WSHS Coach Alan Gates. Like Alston, Blackie was a struggling student at WSHS who turned his life around through a program run by Gates at the high school, and said he wanted to help other students like himself find success in life.
