WILBRAHAM The Wilbraham Hampden Academic Trust Inc. (W.H.A.T.) is excited to announce that we are fortunate, once again, to secure a date on the "Big Top Tour" schedule. Circus Smirkus will be returning to present four shows over the weekend of July 11 and 12 at Post Office Park in Wilbraham. Over the past two years, approximately 4,000 people from Western Massachusetts and beyond have attended the performances in Wilbraham.

Vermont's award-winning international youth circus is back on the road with its 2009 Big Top Tour, continuing a 22-year tradition of bringing joy and magic to towns all over the Northeast. The traveling youth circus will perform some 70 shows this summer, from the mountains of Vermont to the shores of Maine, with stops along the way in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and upstate New York. Twenty-seven stars, ages 10 to 18, bring youthful exuberance and polished skills from all parts of the country and the world.

This year's troupe hails from California, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Vermont and Washington, with international troupers from France and the United Kingdom. The 2009 Big Top Tour takes to the road from late June to mid-August.

He added, "Year after year these shows bring smiles to the faces of all those who attend these outstanding performances and that many families have begun to plan their vacations around the performance dates."

This summer, join the W.H.A.T. for its presentation of Circus Smirkus and "Smirkus Ever After: A Big top Fairytale." For circus fans of all ages, it really is possible to run away to the circus without leaving your hometown.
