WILBRAHAM After closing in August for restocking, the Thrift Shop at Wilbraham United Church, 500 Main St., reopened at 9 a.m. on Sept. 11. The shop will now be open every Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, offering two rooms of practical and decorative household items, holiday decorations, books, games, artwork, small appliances and much more.

The Thrift Shop first opened its doors in March 2009 and was an immediate success. In its first five months of operation, the shop brought in over $10,000 to be donated to the church and local non-profit groups.

The shop was created with the stipulation that 40 percent of its profits be donated directly to local charitable organizations, selected by the church's Outreach Commission.

"Thus far we've made $1,000 donations to Life's Choices, Safe Passage and the Care Center, and are looking for more ways to help," said Thrift Shop Manager Dianne Lyons. "We're very excited, pleased and proud to help make a big difference in our community."

For more information, please call the church at 596-2511.
