I thought Sharon Levy's letter of Jan. 17, 2013 was perfect. In addition, renewed licensing of guns would help keep track of who owns these weapons.
Just like when an automobile is involved in crime and its license and/or VIN help police in identifying its owner, the renewal of a gun license matching the gun to its owner each time would help law enforcement. Conscientious firearms owners like safe drivers should be happy to comply with these rules. Let's contact our elected officials to insist that such a policy is begun.
