Repealing the ban on educational dinners for doctors will increase tax revenue to the state by $60 million dollars.
Our state has $13.328 billion in annual restaurant sales. We estimate repealing the ban on educational dinners for doctors will boost sales 3%, or $400 million.
Increased sales of $400 million will lead to $60 million in meals, sales, payroll, income, etc., taxes.
We urge repeal of the ban on educational dinners for doctors. We are the only state in the nation to have this ban. Companies can still pay doctors speaking and consulting fees. There is no evidence this ban decreased drug prices. Furthermore, the ban makes hosting a medical convention virtually impossible.
