|On behalf of all of us who are Shriners, relatives of Shriners, friends of Shriners or have any connection of any kind at all with the Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield, I want to express my gratitude to Reminder Publications and in particular to Michael Dobbs for the great article about our hospital that appeared in the April 14 edition of The Reminder. When it comes to pertinent community news, issues and events, Reminder Publications are always on target.|
As far as the Shriners Hospital in Springfield is concerned, we need all of the written support we can get from the community to indicate how vital the hospital is to the children and families we serve, the 200 staff members who are employed at our hospital and the more than 200 volunteers who provide invaluable support to everyone at our hospital. Our ultimate goal is to make sure that this hospital is not closed and that we can go on providing the highest quality orthopedic care without any cost to children and their families.
The best way that the community can assist us is by having as many people as possible visit our Web site and express opinions about the possibility that this hospital could be closed after having served in our community for the past 84 years. The Web site is www.shrinersofspringfield.com.
The children and families we serve, from all of New England, upper New York State, Puerto Rico, Santo Domingo, the island of Cyprus and various other countries around the world, need your voices. Please go to the Web site and give your written support for keeping this Shriners Hospital open now and for many years to come.
No decision will be made about this matter until our voting representatives have had a chance to vote on this idea at our national convention in San Antonio in July. Now is the time to express your support for our hospital and our investment in improving the quality of life for our patients the adults of the future.
