No real change

Nov. 14, 2013
I do not see much change resulting from the Springfield election. Many incumbents were returned to office unopposed. The so-called “new bloods” were endorsed by familiar incumbent politicians. Some are related to incumbents. As I have said in the past, Springfield city government is more inbred than European royalty. When Queen Elizabeth dies and her son Prince Charles becomes king, would you call him “new blood?”

The only independent voice on the schools committee , Antoinette Pepe, was not reelected. We can expect the same tried and failed solutions to the problem of low academic achievement, school safety, and truancy with no one raising any objections.

The winners all have one thing in common. While they have whined about poverty and unemployment they will continue to support national politicians who help to export jobs from the United States.
