Questions contract

Chicopee Mayor Bissonnette's profession before becoming mayor was that of a lawyer, and he still maintains a law practice in the city. He and the city solicitor recently signed a contract with the Human Resource Director that was, in his own words, "inartfully drawn" resulting in a salary exceeding that approved by the city council in the city's budget.

Whatever "inartfully" means. It's not in the dictionary. Nor is "unartfully," although my dictionary suggests replacing the latter with "untruthfully" or "unfaithfully."

Hmm. One can only wonder what the mayor really meant.

There are many other contracts, temporary and otherwise, that have been signed during the sitting mayor's tenure. Perhaps the city auditor or an outside auditor should be examining them in case any others were also "inartfully drawn."
