|On behalf of VFW Post 9397 in Hampden, I would like to send a sincere thank you to all those who attended the East Longmeadow Fourth of July parade.|
A small Honor Guard of Veterans from our post carrying the American flag, MIA POW flag and our post flag, along with two M1 Garand weapons marched in this great parade. The men, women and children from East Longmeadow and the surrounding communities thanked us over and over again for our service to this great country. People stood up and cheered and clapped as we passed and saluted our great American flag as we carried it tall and proud. People ran out into the street offering us cold water.
Words like pride, patriotism, honor and respect were demonstrated throughout the parade route.
The parade committee deserves kudos in organizing this enormous event.
Once again, in response to the many thousands thanking us for our service, on behalf of every veteran who has the honor to serve this great country, you are welcome.
Post Commander, VFW Post 9397, Hampden
