Thank you National Grid and clean-up crews

I would like to take a moment to thank the National Grid and tree removal crews who worked diligently and without fail in order to restore our power as quickly as humanly possible.

Not only did they leave their own families in the dark and cold or travel from afar in order to give us back the luxury of electricity, they also risked their lives every minute of their day in order to restore our comfort.

It is appalling to me to hear self-centered residents criticizing the workers for the wrath of Mother Nature. If only they could take a moment to look beyond their own yards and towns to see how massive an area of destruction these workers faced. There is much that needs to occur behind the scenes in order for them to be safe while restoring our power.

Living without electricity for a week is a small price to pay to ensure their safety and proper procedure. Next time you see one of these unsung heroes working out in the cold, offer a smile and a “thank you” instead of complaining. Use your energy instead to check on your elderly neighbors and those with young children.

To all of the workers: Thank you for your hard work and perseverance!
