Thank you Williams Middle School |
|
June 18, 2012
To the Williams Middle School: I do not want this year to go by without saying thank you to all of you; students, many of the parents, the faculty, the staff and the administration at the Williams Middle School, as well as so many friends throughout our community, for the many acts of kindness and thoughtfulness shown to me and Mrs. Bellows' family during these most difficult of times.
Mrs. Bellows has left us, but her spirit remains very much alive in our hearts and in our minds. I know how her enthusiasm, her kindness and her wonderful personality touched so many people at the Williams school. I know how much she meant to so many of you.
Your handwritten cards of condolence have brought me into your classrooms; where in you shared personal experiences and memories of Mrs. Bellows' unique teaching style, of how she made the classroom such an exciting and challenging and fun place to be.
I can say also that she brought that same joy of life into our home and to our marriage. How we looked forward to coming home to each other at the end of each day. I would not trade my memories of our time together for anything. I do consider myself fortunate to have been able to share some of my life with Jan. I know that Mrs. Bellows would be so touched by the feelings so many of you have expressed. I have been so touched by those feelings and by your many kind thoughts and deeds.
I know also that Mrs. Bellows would not want you to continue to be sad when you think of her. I know she would appreciate those feelings, and I know that she would understand that they must run their course; but I know also that she would look forward to the time when the thought of her would generate the same smiles she was so good at generating in the classroom.
Mrs. Bellows knew that life is a precious gift and she became a teacher whereby she could help others to appreciate life and to discover what life can be. There is nothing you could do to honor Mrs. Bellows' memory more than to expand your awareness of life's wonderful possibilities, to develop your own precious gifts and talents to the best of your ability, and to live full, productive and satisfying lives; and, when the opportunity arises, to help others to do the same.
Thank you once again for all you have done in Mrs. Bellows' memory.
With much appreciation, I remain a friend of the Williams School.
John Bellows
