The Best Laid Lines

I am sure that some residents on Greenacre wanted to ensure the safety of their children when white painted lines were suggested. Unfortunately, it is a dangerous world out there and speeding cars are a reality on many side streets in town that are famous for cut-through traffic. What can be done? What alternatives do small family friendly neighborhoods have to slow speeds on narrow roads and winding avenues that have few if any stop signs? There are many questions being asked and not enough answers.

In the case of Greenacre the lines that were added were taken away, although the intentions were good. Let's hope that an accident or injury does not happen to a child or elderly resident when a car flies through a quiet area, over the speed limit, on a Longmeadow lane. Keep your fingers crossed for a safe and peaceful holiday season. If you have feelings on the subject, please tell the Select Board what your areas of concern are. Some roads are dangerous and stop signs would be a welcome and long overdue addition. A stop sign is a reliable and affordable means of slowing vehicular traffic. Please drive with care over the holiday season!
