Town Meeting

East Longmeadow Town Meeting's M.O. should raise eyebrows when a study committee for article merit does not recommend, or cannot do so for covert details, and then suddenly rush to the microphone at presentation to nod 'yes.' To the clueless in scant attendance, that is a signal it merits passage. Add the usual en masse "aye" or standing in the 'public servant' front rows to the push.

But some more aware of the bigger picture and how it affects them are there to vote no! They've seen the operation before. There was some fire at the last meeting when Article 26 was in last seconds 'pulled' as it had been several times before. Same wording same "no recommendation." Too many "anti" in the crowd? Something stinks! And now it is Article 3. Deja vu with a telling Article 4 riding on the 'coat-tails.'

These slush funds with many labels are ripe for dipping and notice they're included in the articles.

So called "Arch Street" is nothing but a quiet mini forest that educated guess says some developer has targeted (maybe for $102,000). The abutting neighbors benefit from this preserve and no public street connects to Arch. So why sell to buy another? Guess!

A look at all the no skateboards signage on business property is telling. A nuisance for many years (and a liability too), no welcome there. The private sector senses no profit from this "recreation" and so they arm twist in extortionary suggestion for a public facility and 'we might disappear from our old haunts.' Article 4! Will that be the place?

For a town rife with facilities and little to no maintenance due to "no money," these wastes should be D.O.A. if not before.

And they wonder why people stay home!
