U.S. weary of war partnering |
|
The question has arisen as to why the United States has chosen to intervene in Libya and has refrained from considering military action in the revolutions taking place in countries like Bahrain, Yemen, Tunisia, and Sudan? The answer is quite simply we will not engage in seeking to quell any uprisings or unrest of a national which is traumatized by a Sunni/Shia related conflict as not to aggravate or inflame anti Americanism: a lesson learned from the Iraq war.
In the case of Libya the difference being the rebel fighters are comprised of a diversified background and their plight is not one stemming from ethnicity. This situation relieves the U.S. of any accusations or preferences between the two major ethnic players on the world stage which is the Sunni vs Shia divide and their rapidly expanding rift.
