Village Green underserved

I would like to voice my concern on behalf of the tenants of Village Green. We have been experiencing problems with our water, mainly hot water and heat for a very long time. Over this past weekend, Sept. 16 thru the 18, we lost heat and hot water. It was a pretty cold weekend.

The emergency telephone number for the E.L.H.A. office was called Saturday morning by four people in buildings 5 and 6. We got a response by maintenance on Saturday morning that we would have no hot water until Monday. The office was aware that we were having our annual picnic on Sunday the 18th. We had no heat and could not bathe. We also had to boil water to do dishes and prepare food.

We do have a lot of elderly and disabled people living within the complex.

Boulanger’s Plumbing & Electric Co., who services the heating and plumbing supplies for all E.L.H.A. complexes, had never received the message until Monday morning. He has been servicing our complex for quite some time, and we have always received excellent service. The company came Monday morning to repair the problem and it was done in less than 45 minutes.

It certainly seems unreasonable to go without heat or hot water for three days. Thank goodness, it wasn’t the middle of winter.
