Dear Family and Friends:
Recently Miss DiMatteo's 1st grade class from East Hill Elementary School in Camillus, NY sent 3/25 letters that we enjoyed very much. They asked several great questions. We wanted to pass them on to the folks back home.
How are you, what do you do in Iraq? 3/25 remains in good spirits. We continue to conduct combat missions to help protect the United States and give stability to region for the new Iraqi government.
What kind of vehicles? We use various vehicles to include Up-Armor HMMWV's (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles), M1A1 Abrams Tanks, AAV's (Amphibious Assault Vehicles), LAR (Light Armored Vehicles), and "7-Ton" Trucks.
What do you do when you are not working? We catch up on sleep, listen to music, watch DVD's, and read magazines and books. Generally, the Marines constantly prepare for the next mission.
Do you have fun? Most Marines will admit that we have the most fun with each others company.
What is it like there? Iraq is a desert country with rivers running thought it that allow for cities and oases. It's always dusty this time of year and the weather ranges from a low of 70 at night, to 110 during the day during the month of May.
How long have you been here? We started to train in January, and arrived in Iraq in March, 2005.
What kind of food do you eat there? We eat MRE's (meals-ready-to-eat) while conducting operations and have several different hot meals while in the Camps. Primarily they include Spaghetti and Meatballs, Hamburgers, and Chicken. We also eat food that our families and supporters send us. We enjoy those a lot.
Do you have any friends there? We have so many friends, it's hard to count.
I like pizza, do you? There is always room for pizza.
Are you a boy or a girl? 3/25 consists of "boys" ranging from 18 to 55.
Thanks East Hill Elementary!
