I could be a pigeon; could you?

I could be an eagle that flies very high;

I could be a sparrow way up in the sky;

I could be an owl in the forest so deep;

I could be a hummingbird that doesn't get much sleep.



But no... I am a pigeon who sits on a ledge.

I watch the dog chase the cat behind the hedge.

Then I see a dove so white

It almost makes me lose my sight.



That I am God's child, wherever I'll be,

I only hope that others will see;

That no matter how awful things could be,

You could be a pigeon on the ledge with me.
