Doesn't Notice

She bought a new outfit;

She changed her hair.

New high heel shoes,

She never used to wear.

She's acting differently now,

And he should know this.

But lately it seems

Like he doesn't notice.

She told him, "I'm going out-

just the girls and me."

He didn't notice the man

In the driver seat.

She never used to work late

And he should know this.

But lately it seems

He just doesn't notice.

She said she'd be home at twelve,

She crawled into bed after four.

He was fast asleep;

He doesn't wait up anymore.

She smelled of men's cologne.

He should know this.

But for the past few months

He just hasn't noticed.

Tuesday she wondered

"Am I getting sick?"

By Sunday she realized

her jeans wouldn't zip.

She never used to eat breakfast,

And he would know this.

If he wasn't so busy

That he didn't notice.

She was getting anxious,

So she took a home test.

It showed her two lines-

Her answer was Yes.

He was excited with the news,

She should have expected this.

They haven't made love in six months

But he hasn't noticed.
