The Turkeys And The Buddha
A family of turkeys graze on my lawn,
Pace in mandala-like movement,
Around a gray weathered stone Buddha
Resting serenely beneath a giant spruce.
We humans live our lives
Much like the restless turkeys,
Searching for a nourishing field
Filled with substance and pleasure.
We, too, pace to and fro
Seeking the center of things.
