East Longmeadow High School is establishing an Athletic Hall of Fame
In September 2009, a local group of athletic and educational supporters formed the East Longmeadow High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee for the purposes of establishing an ELHS Athletic Hall of Fame. Over the course of the past three months the Committee has grown to approximately 20 members representative of the school system, coaching ranks, and greater East Longmeadow community and has crafted a mission, constitution and by-laws, and induction criteria. The Hall of Fame will honor former athletes, coaches, and contributors who have exemplified outstanding abilities and contributions to the proud tradition of athletics in Town of East Longmeadow. Nomination forms are available at the East Longmeadow High School office, The East Longmeadow Library, and The East Longmeadow recreational Department. Nominations for the Inaugural Induction scheduled for November 5th, 2010 must be received no later than May 1, 2010. Completed forms should be sent to The East Longmeadow High School Office, 180 Maple Street, East Longmeadow, MA 01028, to the Attention of The Director of Athletics. Eligibility includes all individuals since the opening of ELHS from 1960 through the 2000 Graduation class. Each year new inductees will be added to the Hall of Fame and plans are in place to install a permanent exhibit at East Longmeadow High School to publicly display a record of the accomplishments of those honored. The Committee will focus its efforts in the coming months to identify future fundraising events throughout the year. The first fundraising event will be a bus trip to Foxwoods, February 28, 2010, Cost $30.00 ($15.00 buffet coupon and $15.00 Keno coupon), leaves ELHS at 9:00a.m returns 6:00p.m, if interested contact Lloyd Duperre at 525-4188.
