AIC golf outing to support athletic scholarships

June 7, 2013
SPRINGFIELD – American International College (AIC) will host the sixth annual President's Cup Golf Outing on June 13 at the Crestview Country Club in Agawam.

Heather Cahill, vice president for Institutional Advancement, said the event directly benefits American International College's student-athletes.

"Our athletes have developed a tradition of excellence, and it is our goal to ensure that the athletic experience at AIC remains second to none. Sponsorship dollars and the net proceeds from this tournament will help provide our student-athletes with the best training possible and increase their chance for success, both on and off the playing field," she said.

Honorary Chairperson Matthew Schimenti, president of Schimenti Construction, will start the tournament with the first drive at 12:15 p.m.

A shotgun start is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., with a raffle and reception at 6 p.m. The awards dinner and auction will begin at 7 p.m.

Schimenti, a graduate of AIC, is a 20-year veteran of the business, the third generation of his family to be involved in the design and construction industry.

He founded the organization in 1994, steering it toward a focus on retail construction. It is now one of the region's leading general contractors with offices in Ridgefield, Conn., and Brooklyn, N.Y.

To register for the event, contact the AIC Office of Development at 205-3972, or go to www.aic.edu/presidentscup.
