May 28, 2012

SPRINGFIELD — The American International College (AIC) men's basketball team will host a boys basketball camp that will take place June 25 through 29.

The AIC Boys Basketball Camp is a day camp for elementary and secondary school boys where all basketball fundamentals are stessed through drills, lectures, games and contests. The camp's primary goal is to teach players how to make themselves better players and how to continue to improve after they leave camp.

The camp will take place at AIC's state of the art Butova and Metcalf gyms. Six indoor full courts and access to 20 baskets guarantee there will always be a court or a hoop for extra work or play.

The camp will be directed by AIC Men's Basketball Head Coach Art Luptowski.

Luptowski just completed his 13th year as the college's head coach. Over Luptowski's 22 years experience as a head coach at the collegiate level, his teams have made six trips to the NCAA national tournament and have posted 14 winning seasons. A four-time Conference Coach of the Year and Regional Coach of the Year, Luptowski has amassed more than 300 career victories.

Assisting in the direction of the camp is Men's Basketball Assistant Coach Jeff Dosado. Dosado just completed his first year at AIC after having spent the previous season as a graduate assistant coach.

Dosado was a four-year letter winner for the Yellow Jackets from 2004 to 2008.

He captained the Yellow Jackets his senior season and led the team in three-point field goal percentage, three-pointers made, free-throw percentage, assists and steals.

The camp's staff will also consist of a collection of suc- cessful high school and college coaches to provide first-class fundamental instruction to our campers.

The cost is $165 per camper. A $75 non-refundable deposit must accompany camper applications. The balance must be paid by the first day of camp.

The camp also offers the "Buddy Plan." If a camper brings a friend, both campers receive a $15 discount, and pay $150 each. The buddy's registration must be enclosed along with deposit.

Registration forms are available on the AIC athletics website, which is located at www.aicyellowjackets.com.

Registrations and deposits should be mailed to AIC, 1000 State St., Springfield, MA 01109 ATTN: Art Luptowski.

In addition to top-notch instruction, each camper will receive an AIC Basketball Camp T-shirt and basketball and a written player evaluation.
