SPRINGFIELD The Springfield Armor received the 16th and final pick of the first round of the 2011 NBA Development League Draft through a lottery conducted on Oct. 11 at the annual coach’s meeting in Denver, Colo.
The pick, which was traded to the Tulsa 66ers last season in exchange for the rights to Scottie Reynolds, will be followed by the first selection in the second round, which will belong to the Armor. The draft will take place on Nov. 3.
“We’re thrilled to be nearing the start of the regular season,” Armor President Alex Schwerin said. “This is an exciting time for us and we’re looking forward to bringing that excitement to Armor fans both on and off the court.”
The Los Angeles D-Fenders will have the first overall pick, followed by Austin Toros, Maine Red Claws, Sioux Falls Skyforce, Texas Legends, Bakersfield Jam (acquired from Iowa), Erie BayHawks, Bakersfield Jam, Erie BayHawks (acquired from Idaho), Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Tulsa 66ers, Dakota Wizards, Bakersfield Jam (acquired from Reno), Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the as-yet unnamed Canton expansion franchise and Tulsa 66ers (acquired from Springfield).
In addition to the 17th overall pick, the Armor will also select 48th, 49th, 80th, 81st, 112th and 113th overall in the 128-player draft.
The Armor tip off the 2011-12 NBA D-League season on Nov. 25 when they host the Maine Red Claws at 7 p.m. at the MassMutual Center in Springfield.
