Bay Path College's Morin named NECC women's tennis player of the week Sept. 25,

LONGMEADOW – Bay Path College sophomore women's tennis player Stephanie Morin of Springfield was named the NECC women's tennis player of the week.
Morin helped the Wildcats to a 2-0 overall and 1-0 NECC week, sweeping conference opponent Mitchell College and regional foe Albertus Magnus both 9-0.
As a No. 2 singles player, Morin won 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-2 respectively and teamed with Symone Watson at the No. 1 doubles winning 8-2 and 8-0 respectively.
Anderson named to MASCAC weekly honor roll
BUZZARDS BAY – David Anderson, a junior forward on the Westfield State University (WSU) men's soccer team from Springfield, netted the game-winning goal in the Owls' 2-1 triumph over Fitchburg State University, earning him a spot on the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference weekly honor roll released on Sept. 23.
Chicopee Comp tops Westfield in girls volleyball
WESTFIELD – Chicopee Comprehensive High School's Starr Ripley registered 11 kills, 10 digs and eight aces and MaryKate Sweeney chipped in with 12 assists and 2 aces as the Colts girls volleyball team swept Westfield 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-17) on Sept. 18.
Kate Menard had five kills, four digs, and two aces in the Bombers' losing effort.
Springfield College tops Smith
NORTHAMPTON – Westfield's Kelly Gallo potted a goal as the Springfield College field hockey team powered past Smith College, 7-3, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Sept. 22.
Elms falls to Anna Maria
PAXTON, Mass. – Elms College senior goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita of Agawam notched 13 saves, but Anna Maria College broke a scoreless tie and netted what proved to be the game-winning goal with just three minutes to play in a 1-0 loss in the Blazers' Sept. 22 non-conference field hockey game.
Meile competes at MCLA Invitational
WILLIAMSTOWN – South Hadley's Chris Miele shot an 81 as the WSU men's golf team finished second in the MCLA Invitational on Sept. 20.
Hall helps WSU past Elms
WESTFIELD – Elms College freshman forward Kristina Kopyscinski of Agawam netted a goal and senior goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita, also of Agawam notched six saves, but Westfield State University received a trio of assists from Liz Hall of Southwick to help pace the Owls to a 4-1 win over the Blazers in a Sept. 20 field hockey game.
Hall followed up that performance with two more assists in a 5-2 loss to Plymouth State on Sept. 22.
Mustafa wins twice in WNE victory
SPRINGFIELD – Chicopee's Linda Mustafa defeated Salve Regina College's Elizabeth DiFilippo 6-2, 6-2 in their first singles match as the Western New England University (WNE) women's tennis team cruised to a 7-2 Commonwealth Coast Conference victory on Sept. 19. She also teamed with Valerie Conway to win at first doubles 8-1.
Bshara nets two in win
SOUTH HADLEY – Senior co-captain midfielder Alexis Bshara of West Springfield scored twice as part of a three-goal first half to help the Western New England University women's soccer team to a 4-1 non-conference victory on Sept. 18 at Mount Holyoke.
Ruiz key in AIC comeback
LOWELL – Sophomore Vanessa Ruiz of West Springfield had a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs as the American International College women's volleyball team, after dropping the first two sets, rallied to take the next three in a 3-2 Northeast-10 victory at UMass Lowell on Sept. 18.
Elms volleyball drops heartbreaker
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Elms College sophomore middle hitter JC Pickett of Chicopee led the Blazers with nine kills, but a 15-kill, 17-dig effort from University of St. Joseph's Ciara Perez helped pace the Blue Jays to a thrilling, 3-2 (25-11, 21-25, 28-26, 20-25, 15-12) victory in a non-conference women's volleyball match on Sept. 18.
Chicopee's Christina Martin notched six kills and 10 digs behind Pickett's nine kills.
They followed that up with another loss, 3-0, at the hands of Framingham State University. Martin recorded four kills and Pickett added three.
Ogden records shutout
PAXTON – Sophomore keeper Nicole Ogden of Springfield recorded the shut-out with two saves in a 4-0 victory for the Bay Path College women's soccer team over Anna Maria College on Sept. 17.
AIC golf takes third at Northeast Intercollegiate Championship
BERLIN, Conn. – Sophomore Ben Mann of Holyoke tied for ninth overall with a 10-over par 154, posting a five-over par 77 on both days as the AIC men's golf team placed third among the 10 teams competing at the 2012 Northeast Intercollegiate Championship, hosted by Post University on Sept. 16 and 17 at the par-72 Timberlin Country Club, with a two-day total of 624 (312-312).Junior Tommy LeBlanc of Springfield tied for 32nd with a 19-over 163 (79-84).
