Calvert returned to Falcons

SPRINGFIELD — The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned left wing Matt Calvert to the Springfield Falcons, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced recently.

Calvert, 21, has recorded two goals and one assist for three points and four penalty minutes in nine games with the Blue Jackets since being recalled on Jan. 6. He scored the first goal of his NHL career at Los Angeles on Jan. 8.

He has added 13-11-24 and 12 penalty minutes in 35 games with the Falcons to rank second on the club in power play goals (4), third in goals and fourth in points.

The Brandon, Manitoba, native was the Blue Jackets' fifth pick, 127th overall, in the 2008 Entry Draft.
