Daggett second in all-around at Blackjack Men's Gymnastics meet

GREATER SPRINGFIELD – Peter Daggett of East Longmeadow, a Level 10 member of the men's competitive gymnastics team at Daggett Gymnastics of Agawam, ranked second in all-around scoring for ages 15 to 16 years old at the 2013 United States Gymnastics Association sanctioned Blackjack National Men's Gymnastics meet, which took place in Las Vegas, Nev., Feb. 8 to 10.

The Level 10 team competed against gymnasts from nine other clubs across the country.

Daggett achieved a total score of 80.050. He took first place in the still rings competition with a score of 14.450, tied for second on the parallel bars with a score of 13.350, tied for third in both floor exercise, with a score of 13.300 and high bar, with a score of 13.500.

Daggett's scores helped his Level 10 team capture first place ranking in their division, with a total team score of 237.700 for the meet. As a group, Daggett Gymnastics Level 10 men's team ranked first in floor exercise, still rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar, with the highest total score for their division on each of these apparatus.

At the same meet, Daggett Gymnastics Level 6 men's competitive gymnastics team, comprised of gymnasts from ages 7 to 12-plus years old, captured second place ranking with a total team score of 237.700 .

As a group, Daggett Gymnastics Level 6 men's team ranked second in floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, and parallel bars, and third in vault. The Level 6 team competed against gymnasts from a dozen other clubs across the country, including a Florida team coached by London Olympian Danell Leyva's stepfather and coach, Yin Alvarez, and a competitor from Hawaii.

Caleb Osborne of Longmeadow, Evan Gardner of Springfield, whose sixth place tie on vault with a score of 9.400 in the 12 years old and up division helped his team achieve second place ranking, and Joshua and Shama Privedenyuk of Agawam, are all members of the second place Level 6 men's team at Daggett.
