Diving Champion

Kim Schmidt, a sophomore at Westfield State College and resident of Longmeadow, defended her titles by capturing the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association's one- and three-meter diving championships at Bentley College, Feb. 13 and 14. Schmidt set a championship record by scoring in the one-meter diving preliminary round a score of 415.90. The previous record of 410.80 was set in 1992. Schmidt won these same events in her freshman year at WSC also.
